NEW DELHI: JNTU students undergoes fast:: Students of JNTU, Hyderabad have taken up indefinite hunger strike demanding justice to Rohit Vemula, a Ph.D. student of Hyderabad Central University who committed suicide. In this connection, it may be recalled that the police at HCU have foiled the indianite fast taken up by seven students and another batch of students sat for indefinite fast demanding action against the two Union Ministers and suspension of Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao. Meanwhile, the VC Apparao went on leave and the charge has been handed over to Prof. Srivastava. Congress leaders Mallikharjuna Kharge, Uttamkumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, V.Hanumantha Rao and Bhatti Vikramarka called on the called on the agitating students.

GUNTUR: Padma Shri awards to Dr.Gokhale and Dr. Gopichand:: The Central Government has announced Padma Shri awards for the year 2016 to Guntur Medical College former students Dr. Gopala Krishna Gokhale and Dr. Mannam Gopi Chand. Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale hails from Krishna district and did his medicine at Guntur Medical College. He who is a cardio surgeon extends his services free of cost through Sahrudaya Trust to poor patients at Guntur Government Hospital. Dr. Mannam Gopichand who hails from Prakasam district did his medicine in Guntur Medical College and is currently working at Star Hospitals in Hyderabad.

iClick centre opened:: DGP J.V.Ramudu has inaugurated the first iClick complaint kiosk of Amaravati Capital Region at Goutama Buddha Road in Mangalagiri today. He said that people can lodge complaints in Telugu, Hindi and English languages and submit the scanned copies of handwritten complaints at the iClick centre.

HYDERABAD: Two bed room flats for all poor people within five years:: Telangana Minister for IT K.T.Rama Rao participating in the election campaign at Allapur said that the government would construct two bed room flats to all the poor people within five years. He appealed the people to vote to TRS to improve Hyderabad.

TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh participating in the election campaign at AS Nagar here said that the development will be put to a halt if voted to TRS. Software engineer commits suicide:: A software engineer Lipi Mishra (26) native of Kanpur in UP lived in an apartment building at Kondapur and worked at Madhapur for the last three years committed suicide by inhaling some toxic fumes at her house. Police said that the relatives of the deceased said that she was having some issues with her family members as they objected to her friendship with a man of another caste.

NELLORE: YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy shifted to Nellore Central Prison:: The Rajahmundry police have shifted Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy to Nellore Central Jail. He was brought from Nellore central jail to Rajahmundry on Saturday and was produced before III Judicial First Class Magistrate who granted bail to Bhaskar Reddy.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fire in Deccan Chemicals:: Fire engulfed in Deccan Chemicals here at Rajavaram at Payakaraopeta mandal in the district today evening in chemical go down. Sources said that some workers were injured in the accident. Fire tenders are fighting to bring down the fire into control.

TDP urban unit ST Cell members sworn in:: A 24 member ST Cell of the TDP Unit was sworn in today. ST Cell president Mallepula Nirmala Kumari, vice-presidents Kimudu Rama Rao, Kanchara Dalem Dora, Tellaganji Susheela, general secretary Boka Satyarao, Joint secretaries Kandrakonda Brahmayya, Karri Vivekananda Swarup, Dippala Siddeswara Rao, secretaries Chetti Veeresalingam, Marika Jagannadham, L.B.Jayaram, treasurer Dippala Samaba murty and propaganda secretary Padala Veerabhadra Ramudu and nine executive committee were sworn in TDP Urban unit president and Visakha South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar at a simple ceremony at the Girijan Bhavan.

Genpact hires 39 students:: The Genpact has selected 39 students from various colleges and given them away appointment letters during a two day campus drive organized by Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education in association with the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation and the NASSCOM at PRISM Degree and PG College.
