NALLAJARLA(WG): ACB conducts raids in Land Acquisition Special Collector’s office:: The ACB officials have conducted raids in the office of the Special Deputy Collector Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Scheme Land Acquisition. They seized Rs.4 lakhs from outsourcing employee Suresh. The raids were conducted following bribery allegations. Suresh told the officials that he was collecting the money only on the directions of the Deputy Collector M.Sumaja which was disputed by the latter. The officials made open the telephonic recordings the special deputy collector had. Sources said that she had entered an agreement to Rs.5 lakhs for release of Rs.85 lakhs to the farmers.

GUNTUR: GPAT- Ten Acharya Nagarjuna University students get ranks:: Three students of Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ANUCPS), Guntur – L. Thejesh Varma (279 rank), K. Srikanth (451th rank) and Sk. Shajeeya Amren (982th rank) at all India level in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) held recently.ANU Vice-Chancellor A. Rajendra Prasad said that B. Pharmacy students G. Rajeshwari, L. Surendra, Pradeepthi, K. Sukeerthi, K. Shadrak, M. Sattibabu and K. Laya Raju bagged top ranks in GPAT according to a press release.

CRDA extends last date for submission of objections/suggestions:: The CRDA has extended the last date for submission of objections/suggestions on the master plan till February 29 said CRDA Commissioner N. Srikanth on Friday. He said that it will conduct awareness meetings at 10 important places of 56 mandals in the region and the schedule will be released shortly.

HYDERABAD: APPSC former member Gubba Chandrasekhar joins YSRCP:: AP Public Service Commission former member and Arya Vysya State leader Gubba Chandrasekhar met YSRCP president Jagan Reddy and joined the party. MLC Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy and many other leaders were present on the occasion. Jagan offered party kanduva to Chandrasekhar and invited him into the party. Veerabhadra Swamy said that the joining of Chandrasekhar gives more strength to the party and added that he did a lot for Vysya community.

IndiGo deplanes 70 marriage party passengers:: Seventy passengers of a marriage party were offloaded form an IndiGo flight at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad today. The flight 6E-466 was scheduled to leave at 10pm for Raipur but left in the early hours on Saturday with 127 other passengers. The deplaned passengers were sent on subsequent flights. A statement from the airline said that some male passengers from the group were standing in the aisle towards the rear of the aircraft making it difficult for other passengers and crew members to walk past.

Chief Minister to review irrigation projects:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will review the progress of prioritized irrigation projects through his dashboard from February 1. The progress of works will be uploaded on mobile app which will be connected to the dashboard. Minister for Irrigation D. Umamaheswara Rao and Principal Secretary Adityanath Das reviewed the works initially today. The prioritized projects include Thotapalli, Indirasagar left and right canals, Pattiseema, Muchumarri, Handri Nive Srujala Sravanthi and Kuppam.

KURNOOL: Two die after consuming ID liquor:: Two persons died after consuming illicitly distilled arrack at Kampamalla in Kolkuntla mandal of the district today. D.Maddileti (27) died on the spot while Chandra (25) died while undergoing treatment at Nandyal Government Hospital after consuming arrack when they attended the death anniversary of a close relative. The arrack, mixed with rectified spirit was said to have been supplied by a person of Noonepalle in Nandayal town.

VIJAYAWADA: KLU Convocation:: As many as 2,000 students who completed Ph.D, M.Tech, B.Tech, MCA, MBA,BBA and B.Com. during 2014-15 from Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU) will be conferred with degrees during the fifth convocation on January 23, 2016. Supreme Court Judge N.V. Ramana, who will participate as the chief guest at the function, will deliver the convocation address.KLU will confer honorary degree of D.Sc on Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri G. Satish Reddy.

Disproportionate assets of Adiseshu is Rs.4.43 crore:: ACB Director General Dr. M.Malakondaiah said that the disproportionate assets of Excise Assistant Commissioner Mamillapalli Adiseshu has been put to Rs.4.43 crore. He said that a case has been registered against the official who is currently Chief Manger of AP Beverages Corporation at Chagallu in West Godavari district. It may be recalled that the Central Investigation Unit of ACB conducted raids on the residences of the accused in Guntur, West Godavari and seized assets’ documents that included one plot, 8 sites, 17 lands along with Rs.5.5 lakhs worth of Fixed deposits, a car, motor cycle, Gold weighing 540 grams, 2.5 kgs worth weight of silver articles, 24 promissory notes worth Rs.30 lakhs and some blank cheques. On the second day, the officials found 5.866 kgs worth of gold ornaments estimated to be Rs.1,33,34,625, Rs.1.34 lakh valued 4.4. kgs silver and Rs.30 lakhs worth of six promissory notes, blank cheques. The overall wealth is estimated at Rs.100 crore. He was sent to judicial custody till February 4, 2016.

VISAKHAPATNAM: New sand policy disappointing’, says CREDAI:: CREDAI Visakhapatnam Chapter said that the new sand policy announced by the government is disappointing, Secretary of the Visakhapatnam chapter B.Srinivasa Rao said that in the last one and a half year sand had become a vexatious issue and the promise of the government that it would come out with a new policy taking into account the interest of all stakeholders raised hopes. He said that the State Government has unilaterally announced the policy of e-auctioning sand reaches and fixing the rate of sand at Rs.500 per cubic metre dashed the hopes among the stakeholders, he said.

Vaidya Mitras meet Ganta Srinivasa Rao:: Vaidya Mitras of different categories of NTR Vaidya Seva who were terminated by the government with the reason that they lacked medical knowledge have been assured by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao that he would discuss the issue during the Cabinet meeting to be held on January 25, 2016. The Vaidya Mitras held a dharna in front of the Collectorate today met the minister. The Vaidya Mitras were appointed as Arogya Mitras eight years ago under the Arogya Sri scheme.
