NEW DELHI:Centre agrees to invest Rs.5,000 crore for energy efficient pumps:: Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal said that the Centre has agreed in principle to invest Rs.5,000 crore in the State for replacement of inefficient/ordinary agricultural pump sets with energy efficient pump sets. Goyal said the Centre had decided to showcase the performance of Andhra Pradesh on the energy efficiency front i.e., Demand side Energy Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) and installation of Energy Efficient LED Street lighting Project, to other States. He said of this at a National Workshop on Agricultural Demand Side Management organized here.
GUNTUR: CRDA meet disrupted:: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meetings for Amaravati capital perspective master plan were disrupted following locals from Yerrabalem demanding cancellation of the proposed roads and resolution of the grama kantham issues. Earlier, the meetings in Uddandarayunipalem, Abbarajupalem, Ainavolu, Undavalli people have opposed the proposal of roads passing through the centre of the villages. The CRDA Commissioner N.Srikanth and Guntur Joint Collector pacified them that their objections and suggestion would be addressed.
HYDERABAD: Former IAS Lakshmi Pardha Saradhi appointed as MD of CCDMC:: The State government has today issued orders appointing retired IAS officer Lakshmi Pardha Saradhi as managing director of the Capital City Development and Management Corporation. CCDMC was set up as a special purpose vehicle by the government for the development, implementation, operation and management of new capital Amaravati. It may be recalled that the CRDA Commissioner N.Srikanth was appointed as its Managing Director.
Timings of Train No. 57425 Kacheguda_Guntakal Passenger are revised::With effect from 24th January, 2016 Train No. 57425 Kacheguda-Guntakal Passenger will depart Kacheguda at 09:40 hrs instead of 10:00 hrs. Will depart Malakpet, at 09:43 hrs, Dabirpura at 09:46 hrs, Yakutpura at 09:51 hrs, Huppuguda at 09:55 hrs, Falaknuma at 10:01 hrs, Budvel at 10:10 hrs, Umdanagar at 10:20 hrs, Timmapur at 10:37 hrs, Kattur at 10:43 hrs, Halbarga at 10:47 hrs, Shadnagar at 10:55 hrs and Balanagar at 11:20 hrs. There will be no change in train timings beyond Gollapalli station and the train will arrive Guntakal at 19:30 hrs on the same day.
Private managers to man government hospitals:: The Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah has issued orders to appoint private managers to man the government hospitals. In the first phase, 16 managers will be appointed on contract basis and the candidates should have at least an MBA qualification and they will be paid Rs.40,000pm.
State will have Emergency Operation System soon:: Principal Secretary (Disaster Management) J.C.Sarma said that the State will soon have a state emergency operation system that will forecast and warn officials and people five days ahead of cyclones. He said that the World Bank and National Disaster Management officials will inspect cyclone shelters and road bridges built with World Bank and NDMA grants. He said that the NDMA and World Bank has sanctioned Rs.2,000 crore for the infrastructure in coastal mandals of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
TDP announces Rs.5 lakh to the family of Rohit::The TDP has announced an assistance of Rs.5 lakh to the family of Rohit Vemula, a PhD scholar of Hyderabad Central University who committed suicide. A delegation of the TDP comprising Ministers Ravela Kishore Babu and P.Sujata along with senior leaders called on the family members of the deceased and expressed deep regrets over the incident. The delegation wanted stringent action against those found guilty.
Dr.Nagareddy released on bail:: Dr Nagareddy Narendra Kumar Reddy, the AP original psychiatrist who was arrested by police in Clayton Country, Georgia on charges of causing death of several patients with overdose of prescription medication has been released on bail after a day of his arrest.

Reliance donates Rs.84 lakhs for Education sector:: Reliance Industries Ltd., has donated Rs.84 lakhs for the development of educational sector. The RIL launched ‘Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham’ scheme seven years ago for funding intermediate education students from financially background in corporate colleges. The cheques was handed over to East Godavari District Collector H.Arun Kumar.
SRIKAKULAM: Ratha Saptami – No VIP tickets:: District Collector P.Lakshmi Narasimham said that there would be no VIP tickets for darshan at Arasavilli temple for the Ratha Saptami scheduled on February 14. However, protocol arrangements would be in place. He said that over 2.5 lakh devotes were expected to throng on the eve of Ratha Saptami, he said. Additional counters for the distribution of prasadam, annadanam will be set up at places such as Indira Vignan Bhavan, Tourism Budget hotel and DCMS office on the Arasavilli road.Andhra Pradesh Gramin Vikas Bank is expected to sell tickets for Ksheerabhisekham and devotees with the tickets will be allowed on the Brahmana Veedhi route to reach the temple from midnight of February 13.

TIRUPATI: Former MP leads protest march:: Former Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan today led a demonstration demanding probe on the death of Rohit Vemula, a PhD student of University of Hyderabad. He was accompanied by students and Congress cadre held a protest march at Sri Venkateswara University. He demanded setting up of a inquiry panel under former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Balakrishnan. He demanded a stringent action against those found guilty.
Court rejects Mithun Reddy’s bail petition :: the Fifth Additional Sessions Court Judge, Srikalahasti has rejected the bail petition moved by Rajampeta YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy. It may be recalled that Mithun Reddy was arrested on Sunday morning along another leader Madhusudhan Reddy on the charges of assaulting an Air India official at Tirupati last year. Mithun Reddy along with Madhusudhan Reddy were shifted to Central Prison in Nellore. YSRCP president Jagan Reddy plans to meet them on Thursday.
VISAKHAPATNAM:: M.Nagendra takes charge as BJP city president:: M.Nagendra today took over as the president of the BJP city unit swearing by collective leadership to strengthen the party ahead of the crucial municipal corporation elections. This is his second stint as city president having held the post earlier from 2010 to 2012 years. His unanimous election was announced by the State Secretary and returning officer Paidi Venu Gopal in the presence of BJP State President K.Haribabu.
Forgery case against 14 persons:: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has lodged a complaint with Madhurawada police against 14 persons for submitting forged documents to get houses under JNNURM. The houses have been allotted to those who lost houses during road expansion at YSR Nagar. It was proved that the beneficiaries submitted forged documents and got the houses allotted following which criminal case was filed.
National Safai Karamcharis Commission member tours district:: L.Omprakash Mahato, member of the National Safai Karamcharis Commission would tour the district on Thursday and Friday. He would hold a meeting with the District Collector, Commissioner of Police and other senior officials at the Collectorate at 10am on Thursday and with VPT Chairman at 2pm and with CMD of Andhra Bank at 4pm at the Circuit House. He would also meet the management representatives of Gangavaram Port on Friday.
