AP gets 4 IAS while 3 for Telangana:: The Union Home Ministry has allotted four IAS officers to Andhra Pradesh and 3 for Telangana State from those selected in 2014 Civil Services. At present there are 21 in Telangana and 26 IPS posts are lying vacant.


TTD to give one more laddu on Rs.300 ticket:: TTD has increased the number of laddus being availed by devotees booking the Rs.300 special entry darshan ticket online. Hitherto, the devotees were given only one laddu in addition to two free laddus on each ticket. The TTD has decided to give every devotee two laddus in addition to the free laddus. This will come into force from the midnight of January 15.

Red sanders logs worth over Rs.10 crore seized:: Forest officials of Tirupati Wildlife Circle today seized a huge container with over six tonnes of red sanders log worth over Rs.10 crore at Balapalle check post. The Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife) P.Venkata Subba Reddy said that the forest staff at the check post stopped a container that was on its way to Renigunta and there was no resistance from its driver. Going by the terrain, the driver could have easily escaped but he did not. He said that the vehicle was empty. But on inspection, we have found more than 200 logs weighing nearly six tonnes, he said.

Vijayawada:: New crop insurance for farmers:: The new Crop Insurance Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) cleared by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday comes as a great relief to farmers. It will come into force on April 1, 2016. The applicability of insurance to post-harvest losses, loss caused by spurious seeds and low premium are major attractions of the scheme according to BJP State general secretary Syam Kishore. He said that 25 per cent of the sum insured was targeted to be paid immediately and balance would be reimbursed with 90 days. Enumeration of loss would be done through cell phones, he said.

Tender notification for temporary capital issued::The CRDA Commissioner N.Srikanth has issued notification inviting tenders for construction of AP temporary capital. The notification said that the project has to be completed before September. The constructions will come up in six lakh sq.ft area and the cost of the constructions is Rs.180 crore.


Ongole:: Missing girl traced:: An 11 year old girl who had fled from her home in Hyderabad was rescued by child line India Foundation NGO partner HELP from the bus station today. B.Pooja, a Statndard VI student at a school in Balanagar was upset after her parents, both working at an eatery insisted that she do domestic chores at home said HELP member B.V.Sagar. He said that they were making efforts to contact her parents.


Ten sentenced to life::Ten persons including five women of Nayanammapalem in Atchutapuram mandal were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.100 each for killing a man from the same village on the charge of practicing witchcraft against their children. VII Additional District Judge S.Sarada Devi delivered the judgement on Wednesday and sentenced them u/s 302, 452, 3245 read with 34 of the IPC.


Special branch Sub Inspector commits suicide:: A special branch Sub Inspector M.Chinni Krishna Rao (43) committed suicide. According to Railway police and relatives version, he joined the police department in 1993 as constable and was promoted as Head Constble in 2010 and as SI in 2014. The reasons for the suicide is not known. He is survived by wife Jyothi, son Rakesh (17) who is studying Intermediate 2nd year at a corporate college in Hyderabad.
