  • Chittoor:: Relay fast for High Court in Rayalaseema:: Members of the Chittoor Bar Association today launched a relay hunger strike on the Prakasam High Road here demanding that the High Court be constituted in the Rayalaseema region to ensure equal development of the State. CBA president V.Surendra Kumar, who initiated the relay hunger strike said the agitation would be intensified in a phased manner.

  • Kurnool:: RIMS official trapped:: Bharat Mohan Singh, administrative officer in RIMS in Kadapa was today arrested by the ACB on the charge of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.60,000 from another official posted to the hospital. The accused allegedly demanded Rs.1 lakh and accepted Rs.60,000 from Suresh Kumar Reddy who was posted as OS, for allotting him a seat and clearing his pending salary said ACB, DSP of Kadapa N.Nagaraju.
  • Tirupati:: Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu laid to rest:: TDP leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu was laid to rest at his ancestral village Venkatramapurm near here today. Ministers N.Amarnath Reddy, Devineni Umamaheswara Ro, P.Pulla Rao and K.Atchannaidu paid their last respects to the departed leader. Amarnath Reddy recalled his association with the departed leader and said ‘he gave me strength when my father passed away. I owe a lot to him’. He promised all support to the members of the bereaved family.
  • Vijayawada:: Polavaram gets Rs.417 crore grant-in-aid:: The Union Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry has sanctioned Rs.417.44 crore as grant-in-aid under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana for the execution of the Polavaram Project. In a letter to the National Water Development Agency, the release said that it was towards amount utilized by the Andhra Pradesh against the irrigation component after April 1, 2014.
