KRISHNAPATNAM: Forest clearance for Amaravati soon:: Union Minister for Forests and Environment Prakash Javadekar has said that the Centre will clear the project in one month. He said that the ministry is still waiting for the final forest clearance for taking up work on capital construction. He said that it will convene a meeting soon to sort out the procedural aspects involved in the project and give permission in a month. The Union Minister said at a meeting organized in connection with the dedication of the 1,600 MW Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah super critical thermal power station

ONGOLE: Kidnapped Pavan set free:: Ayesetty Venkata Pavan Kumar, a horticulture professional from Kandukur in Prakasam district who was kidnapped in Nigeria eight days ago was set free by his captors on Saturday wee hours. Venkataratnam, the mother of Pavan and his wife Annapurna and other family members received a call from Pavan Kumar who worked for Agbede Agri Products in Abuija. The company officials secured the release of Pavan Kumar after paying undisclosed amount as ransom said his uncle A.Srinivas.

SRIKAKULAM: Film on Tribals from director and actor Narayana Murty:: Actor, director and producer R.Narayana Murty expressed concern over deteriorating living standards of the tribal people in Telugu speaking States alleged that the successive governments had failed to look into the grievances of the tribal people. He formally released audio cassette of his new movie ‘Dandakaranyam’ at the Press Club here. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the new movie would depicit the pathetic condition of Adivasis in North Andhra Region.

TIRUMALA: TTD to deposit 3,700 kg gold with Punjab National Bank:: The TTD on Saturday resolved to move 3,700 kg of gold towards the Central Government sponsored Gold Monetization Scheme. TTD E.O. D.Sambasiva Rao said that it was decided to deposit over 1,300 kg of pure gold with the PNB that has come forward with the highest ever offer of 1.75 per cent of rate of interest under the short-term deposits for a period of three years. A decision was also taken to deposit 1,000 kg of gold with the PNB which the TTD is scheduled to receive by way of redemption from State Bank of India in March. TTD will also invest 1,400 kg of mixed category of gold ornaments received from the temple hundi with the Indian Overseas Bank for a period of three years.

VISAKHAPATNAM:Police outpost in the Agency soon:: The first of the police outposts being set up in the Visakha Agency to control the activities of the banned CPI(Maoist) is expected to be inaugurated next month. It is coming up at Rallagedda Kotturu on the way to Korukonda in Chintapalli mandal. It will have eight barracks in which 100 personnel would be accommodated and a helipad would also be provided.

Intensive revision of electoral rolls from March 1, 2016: District Collector and District Election Officer Dr.N.Yuvraj said that intensive e revision of electoral rolls in the GVMC area would be taken up from March 1 to 31. Speaking at a press conference after a meeting with representatives of political parties and GVMC officials, he said that the Booth Level Officers would use tabs for verification that helps voters update the details of EPICs if they moved to other place. Corrections can be made in the data. The intensive verification will be done in the five core Assembly segments of the GVMC and in the areas that come under polling booths in Bheemunipatnam, Anakapalle and Pendurthi segments.
