  • Hyderabad:: NCC chief for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh assumes office:: Air Commodore N.N.Reddy assumed the office of Deputy Director General of National Cadet Corps Directorate. He was commissioned on June 8, 1984. He was an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, National Defence Academy, Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and DSSC, Wellington.
  • Kurnool:: Four children hurt in anganwadi centre:: Four children were injured one of them seriously, when boiling water spilled on them in the mini anganwadi centre No.10 at Banaganapalle in the district today. Sudarshan (5) suffered serious injuries and three others Hashavardhan, Sujatha and Prasanna all three-year-old sustained simple injuries when they ran into a teacher Venkataramanamma who was carrying a vessel containing boiling water. They were rushed to the government hospital. On the advice of the doctors, Sudarshan was rushed to Kurnool general hospital.
  • Vijayawada:: Assembly, Council sessions from March 5:: The 14th session of the AP Legislative Assembly will begin at 9.30am on March 5. The Legislative Council’s 30th session will commence at the same time and on the same date according to an official release. Governor ESL Narasimhan will address the joint session on that day. Legislature Secretary M.Vijaya Raju has sent a communication in this regard to all members.
  • Srikakulam:: Tributes paid to former MP Yerrannaidu:: Minister for Transport K.Atchannaidu and MP K.Rammohan Naidu today vowed to rededicate themselves to achive ideals of former Union Minister K.Yerrannaidu on the occasion of latter’s birth anniversary. They garlanded statues of Yerrannaidu and recalled his services to the district which witnessed rapid growth in the last two decades. District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy, Srikakulam ZP chairperson Chowdary Dhana Lakshmi said his life history had inspired thousands of people in the State.
  • Kurnool:: Farmer dies in hit-and-run case:: A farmer Konu Sivaiah (40) of Turakavaripalli in Anantapur district was fatally knocked down by an unknown vehicle at Parnapalle in Lingala mandal of Kadapa district late on Thursday night. Local people noticed the farmer lying dad with his dead crushed when they came out around midnight to fetch water to put off flames that erupted in the hut of one Mallikarjuna in Parnapalle and alerted the police.
  • Srikakulam:: Railway station at Srikakulam town demanded:: Srikakulam Railway Station Sadhana Samiti general secretary Ganji Ezra submitted a memorandum to MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu over the issue. All the district headquarters in the State have direct train connectivity except Srikakulam. The issue was completely ignored all these years. That is why agitation for Srikakulam Railway Station along with zone status for Visakhapatnam was taken up’, said Ganji Ezra.
  • Srikakulam:: Sikkollu Sambaralu gets under way:: Three-day ‘Sikkolu Sambaralu’ got under way here on Friday. District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy formally launched Sobha Yatra and kite festival as part of Sikkolu Sambaralu which is aimed at achieving Swachh Andhra Pradesh targets. Speaking on the occasion, he said people were using costly gadgets and spend huge amount on luxury but they were not coming forward to construct toilets although the government was providing Rs.15,000 subsidy.
