  • Kakinada:: Complete acquisition of land by March 10:: East Godavari District Collector Kartikeya Misra today sked the officials to take steps for completing land acquisition for extending relief and rehabilitation package to the evacuees of the Polavaram project by March 10. Addressing at a review meeting with the various department officials, he said that of the 2,413 acres of land to be acquired to compensate the farmers, acquisition of 1,633 acres had already been completed. Of it an extent of 1,499 acres handed over to the ITDA at Chintoor and Rampachodavaram. The remaining 184 acres would be handed over by February 27, he said.
  • Nellore:: Bifurcation was scientific and justifiable’, says Chinta Mohan:: Congress leader and former MP Chinta Mohan today said that the party leadership had taken all care and ensure scientific and justifiable division of the State in conformity with the existing parliamentary procedures and customs. He met party leaders and addressing a press conference, he said all political parties had given their consent for bifurcation though many of them were now blaming only the Congress for it.

Akidasu Washington (40) was erecting a hoarding ear the bus stand welcoming the party president Jagan Mohan Reddy when the incident took place.
  • Chittoor:: Chief Minister did not pursue SCS seriously’, says CPI:: CPI national secretary K.Narayana today criticized Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the Left Parties and not considering their views on the Special Category Status. He said the CPI was committed to ensuring SCS for th State as the special package was only eyewash. Though the issue of SCS is serious, Chandrababu did not invite the Left parties for talks or suggestions, he said addressing a public meeting at PCR College junction today as part of the three-day ‘maha sabhalu’.
  • Vijayawada:: Showdown between Sivaji, BJP activists:: A television debate on the injustice meted out to the State by the Centre turned into a fight between actor Sivaji and BJP activists in the city. The debate hosted by a regional news channel saw the participation of all the political party leaders of the city and student organizations. The debate was held in a college ground on Tuesday night. When the debate was going on, a group of BJP activists allegedly confronted Sivaji who was criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to fulfil the promises made to the State. The channel footage shows a BJP activist arguing on the issue of criticizing Modi. While Sivaji and other political leaders raised ‘Modi down down’ slogans, a group of activists stormed their way towards the former.
