  • Chittoor:: Two Visakhapatnam men held with ganja plants:: The Kuppam police arrested two persons from Visakhapatnam at the Kuppam bus stand and sized ganja plants weighing 20 kg and worth about Rs.3 lakh. The duo was identified as Bonthula Venkata Rao and Chikkudu Balraju during interrogation. They deposed before the police that they were on their way to Kolar Gold Fields in neighbouring Karnataka to hand over the plants to an agent there to raise crops.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Two held on charge of posing as vigilance officers:: Posing themselves as officials from Vigilance department, two unidentified miscreants fled away with Rs.7.5 lakh cash from two persons at Lambasingi under Chintapalli Police Station limits today. According to police sources, the victims were coming in a car from Malkangiri, district of Odisha and were on their way to Narsipatnam. According to a complaint lodged by the victims, the miscreants bet them up and questioned the veracity of the cash as it did not have any records. They took away the cash and asked them to collect it back from the office. The victims said that they were carrying cash to purchase urea and a few other agricultural produce. The alerted police launched a search operations to nab the culprits.
