BHIMAVARAM: Boxing tourney from February 19:: National men’s boxing championship will be held at Bhimavaram in West Godavari form February 19 to 23. The championship will be held under the joint aegis of AP Boxing Association, Cosmopolitan Club, Cosmo Sports Trust and Sifi Technologies ltd., As many as 250 boxers from 28 States are expected to take part in the tourney. The championships will be held in 10 categories of weight beginning from 49 kgs to 91 plus kg.

ELURU: Court gives AgriGold accused to CID for seven day custody:: The CID officials have produced the AgriGold Farm Estates India Pvt.Ltd. Chairman and Managing Director A.Venkata Rama Rao and AVS Narayana Rao at around 10.30 in West Godavari District Court on Wednesday. The police had a tough time to manage hundreds of depositors tried to break the security cordon and enter the premises to watch the proceedings. When police could not manage the crowd took the accused out after taking permission form the court for questioning them for one week. It may be recalled that both the accused have duped investors to the tune of Rs.22,000 crore. The High Court that was monitoring the case pulled the CID officials over their slackness in investigation and failure to arrest the accused and even warned that the case would be handed over to the CBI.

GUNTUR: Science Express in Guntur:: The Science Exhibition on train started on Wednesday at Guntur and the Science Express train redesigned as ‘Climate Change’ this year. It will stay till February 19 at Guntur railway station. The science express was put on platform 7 and entry to visit Science Express is free. The timing of visiting the train is 10am to 6pm.

HYDERABAD: Revenue records goes on line in Telangana State:: Land records in Telangana State have gone online and anyone can verify their property ownership details at a click of a mouse. In a major step towards e-governance and to ensure transparency and accountability in property transactions besides checking illegal transactions, the State Government has devised an exclusive revenue records porta ‘Maa Bhoomi’ that became operations on Wednesday.

High Court notice to Government and Assembly Secretary::Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday ordered notice to the State Government and Secretary to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the case filed by Nagari MLA Roja challenging her suspension from the Assembly for one year. He heard the arguments on Thursday from Government side. The court was told that the salary and other perks were not affected and that her functioning as people’s representative was not curtailed and hence, there was no urgency for giving any interim direction. The Judge posted the case to February 29.

KAKINADA: Encroachments on AU PG Centre to be cleared:: In-charge VC of AU E.A.Narayana on Wednesday said that encroachments on the premises of the University’s PG Centre in the city would be removed soon with the help of the State Government and the site that was under encroachment would be used for university works. He said that steps would be initiated to improve the teaching methodologies.

NALGONDA: NMU leader Syed Mahmood arrested:: Kodad police busted a job cheating racket and arrested National Mazdoor Union State General Secretary Syed Mahmood and his gang. Police recovered Rs 16.5 lakh cash, two cars and original certificates of job aspirants from them. Nalgonda SP Vikram Jeet Duggal said that the gang collected Rs 2.5 crore from 80 unemployed youth by promising driver and conductor jobs in TSRTC. The SP said that the gang issued fake appointment letters to them.

RAJAHMUNDRY: ONGC Survey-Fishermen protest:: ONGC’s offshore survey for hydrocarbons along with coast near China Mynivanilanka village of Narasapuram in West Godavari was affected when the local fishermen expressed their displeasure over ONGC’s survey alleging that it was affecting their livelihood as they were not allowed to carry out fishing for several days. Meanwhile, ONGC officials said that the fishermen would be paid compensation during the period of their survey and added that they are negotiating with the fishermen and are confident that it would be settled amicably.

VIJAYAWADA: Tamil Nadu Governor to inaugurate Annasatram:: Tamil Nadu Governor K.Rosaiah will launch the new building of Kanyakaparameswari Annasatram at Shivalayam Street in One Town on February 21. According to Annasatram Committee secretary B.V.Narasimha Rao and President B.Hareswara Rao, the choultry which has been serving hundreds of pilgrims to Kankaadurga Temple atop Indrakeeladri is now offering free food to them.

200 acres identified for MSME:: The State Government identified 200 acres for Model Industrial Township at Gannavaram for MSME units said the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. This land would be allotted to the MSME units soon. He said that the provisions for development of basic infrastructure, skill development centre and residential houses for the workers would be provided in the Model Industrial Township.

VISAKHAPATNAM: AP delegation to USA to study Smart Cities:: A delegation including people’s representatives of Vizag city, GVMC Commissioner, VUDA Vice-Chairman, GVMC and VUDA officials and other state level officers would take up a trip to the USA on February 20. As part of ‘ Smart Solutions for Smart Cities Reverse Trade Mission’. The delegation would study the best practices from February 22 to 26 and adapt them in designing Smart Cities at their backyard in the State.
