Katari couple murder case – Mogali arrested
Mogali alias Chandrasekhar, the 10th accused in Katari Anuradha and Katari Mohan murder case was arrested on December 27, 2015 at Ganganapalle . Chittoor DSP Lakshmi Naidu at a press meet on Monday said that 23 persons were involved in the double murder and the police have so far arrested 20 persons as accused in the case. Mogali has extended his full cooperation to the prime accused Chintu in the murder. He said that he escaped to Chennai after the murder. He is being produced in the court and will be remanded.
AP Open School Society invites applications
Andhra Pradesh Open School Society invites applications for those school dropouts who have passed V standard for admissions into VIII standard from December 31, 2015. AP Open School Society State Director P.Parvati said that the candidates should have been completed 14 years of age by August 31.
YSRCP demands to make open deals in capital construction on public domain
YSRCP has today demanded the State Government to maintain transparency of its deals relating construction of the new AP State Capital. It wanted the government to comply with the Central Government’s policy guidelines on partnerships with private sector in the light of proposals to involve Singapore agencies . Party senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana wanted the government to place the records in the public domain and explain as to how a signatory on behalf of the Singapore government could become the CEO of the companies that bagged the contract.
Electrical DE Satyanandam gets anticipatory bail in call money case
In the call money racket case, the Electrical DE Satyanandam got a conditional anticipatory bail. The High Court while granting bail to the accused directed him to cooperate with the investigating authority. It may be noted here that he was absconding ever since the scam came to light. On the other hand, the police have filed a charge sheet naming the prime accused Yelamanchili Ramu, Bhavani Prasad, Satyanandam, Chennupati Srinu, Pendyala Srikanth, Venigalla Srikanth, Doodala Rajesh. It may be interesting that thought the case was registered a three weeks ago, no arrests were made while Pendyala Srikanth and Venigalla Srikanth whereabouts are still not known.
700 new engineer posts in TRANSCO and GENCO
Official sources said that AP TRANSCO and GENCO has sent proposals to the government for filling up of 700 new vacancies. The proposals have to be approved by the finance department. The electrical distribution organizations have already submitted proposals for filling up of 300 vacancies. Transco CMD Vijayanand said that efforts are on and a clear picture will emerge in a couple of days.
Union Ministry for Civil Aviation gives green signal for Bhogapuram airport.
The Union Ministry for Civil Aviation has given its green signal for establishing of an International Airport at Bhogapuram at a time when people there raises protest over its establishment. The State Government is going ahead without concerning the protests of the people. The Civil Aviation Ministry has given its nod for establishment and maintenance of Nellore, Kurnool airports establishment in PPP mode.
S.Abhista resigned as OSD in Chief Minister’s office
S.Abhista, officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister’s Office has resigned for the post and was accepted by the Principal Secretary (Political) Shashibushan Kumar. The appointment became controversial and was given explanation that he was positioned due to his abilities. Sources said that he would be placed in a key position in the TDP.
High Court says ‘no’ to cockfights
The Hyderabad High Court today made it clear that cockfights with betting will not be allowed during this Sankranti season anywhere in Andhra Pradesh.A Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip Baba Saheb Bhosale and Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice S.V.Bhatt was hearing an interim application seeking to implead the Animal Welfare Board of India as one of the respondent to a PIL pending before the Court that was moved by Narahari Jagadish Kumar, a native of West Godavari.
Amity University to set up a campus in Amaravati
Amity University has announced plans to set up a campus in the AP’s State capital city Amaravati. The university will be operational a year hence and admissions will start for courses on the new campus by 2017. A delegation led by Atul Chauhan, chancellor and president of Amity University called on the Chief Minister and informed him that it offered over 250 different courses. It started its operations in 2005 and by now has set up 11 universities. 20 campuses and 18 schools.
Five new courses in Maulana Azad National Urdu University
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has permitted the Maulana Azad National Urdu University to introduce five new courses for the academic year 2015-2016, The new courses are B.A.., B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) B.Sc. (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology), M.A. in Urdu, English, History, Islamic Studies courses under distance education mode.
Peddi Rama Rao will likely be appointed as OSD in Chief Minister’s office
Sources said that Peddi Rama Rao will be appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister’s office. He is working in Hyderabad Central University and has been extending his services to TDP. After TDP came to power, he was on long leave and has been preparing notes and speeches to Nara Lokesh and his wife Brahmani. He hails from Unnava of Yedlapadu mandal in Guntur district.
Convicts’ escape- six jail officials suspended
Director General of Prisons Krishnam Raju has ordered the suspension of six officials for dereliction of duty in the wake of escape of four life convicts on Monday. Meanwhile, the police launched a manhunt for Deva alias Jani, a resident of the city who was among the convicts escaped from the Central Prison. Kurnool SP A.Ravikrishna said they were lodged in the prison on June 17, 2015.
‘Media Commission shortly’, says Kodela Sivaprasada Rao
The State Government is considering of establishing a Media Commission for the welfare of journalists, said AP State Assembly Speaker Dr. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. Participating at the State the mahasabbha of the Andhra Pradesh Broadcast Journalists Association as chief guest, he announced of the same. The journalists’ problems will be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister and will put forth his efforts in addressing them, he said. YSRCP senior leader MLC Dr.Ummareddy Venkateswarlu speaking on the occasion said that the importance of investigative journalism had gone high and promised to take up their problems to the government.
ACB conducts raids on Sub-Registrar
The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau have today conducted raids on the residence of Sub-Registrar Ananda Rao following corruption charges against him. The ACB officials of Visakhapatnam and West Godavari are conducting raids simultaneously at his residence and office. Under the supervision of West Godavari ACB DSP Karanam Rajendra, the officials have conducted raids at Madhurawada sub-Registrar’s office and under the supervision of Visakha ACB DSP Ramakrishna, the raids were conducted at his Lawson Bay residence. Sources said that they are conducting raids at Narsapuram in West Godavari.
Hi-tech prostitution racket busted
Dwaraka Police Station have busted a hi-tech prostitution racket in the city and rescued two girls who were being used in the racket and arrested two organizers and a customer. The arrested were Pyla Neelakanta Reddy alias Akhil and Karri Shravani Reddy from the city. The rescued girls were from Nellore and Viziangaram. According to the CI, the main accused Akhil, a native of Sheelanagar was earlier running a flesh trade at Ameerpet in Hyderabad and moved to city seven months ago. He contact the customers through a website by name ‘online call girls@Vizag’ and he would advertise his mobile number on the website and would negotiate the rate and place over phone with those who called him said the Inspector.
Chief Minister to participate in Visakha Utsav
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will participate in Visakha Utsav on January 2, 2016. A carnival would be held on the first day of Visakha Utsava in which government departments and organizations would participate and events would be held at RK Beach, VUDA Part and Jatara. Singer SP Balasubramanyam would present Swarabhishekam while Nagoor Babu and Usha Uthap would also perform. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu would participate in the inaugural function and several Union Ministers would attend the valedictory function.
Nedunuri achieves, auditorium opened
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has today opened Sangita Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishna Murthy Memorial Carnatic Music Archives and Auditorium at the Rajiv Smriti Bhavan on the Beach Road. The achieves and auditorium were constructed at a cost of Rs.1.5 crore sanctioned from the MP Local Area Development Fund. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Nedunuri auditorium that had thousands of kirtanas with 5,000 hours of music rendered by hundreds of musicians and composers as a gift to music lovers. He said that this was the first of the kind auditorium in the country and added that an auditorium on the lines of Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad would also come up in MVP Colony.
Special trains to Araku shortly
The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway is said to be contemplating running special trains to Araku to meet the unprecedented rush of tourists during the season. DRM Chandralekha Mukherjee said ‘We are considering running of special trains during the week ends to meet the winter rush. We had asked for another train to Araku at eh ITTC meeting and also working on the increasing the length of platforms at stations on the way to Araku, she said.
Medical Research Unit at Andhra Medical Centre
The Centre has decided to introduce Multi-Disciplinary Research Units in 21 medical colleges across the country and selected four for Andhra Pradesh and two for Telangana State. These included Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Tirupati and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh while Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College in Telangana State. The Centre will release Rs.5 core to each in a phased manner.
