Andhra Pradesh to sign MoU with Microsoft
The State Government will on Monday sing MoU with Microsoft towards establishing to work towards establishing technology advanced and knowledge based economy. Microsoft CEO Satyam Nadella will meet the Chief Minister. Microsoft will support the State in building of three proof of concept solutions in the field of education, agriculture and e-citizen services. Microsoft will also offer in cloud based technology and will provide training to the government employees.

RTC to run 2,715 special buses for Sankranti
Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has decided to ply as many as 2,715 special bus service to cater the needs of the people visiting their natives on the eve of Sankranti. Plans are also made to ply more bus services in case of need. These special services will run up to January 17, 2016. TSRTC Joint MD G.V.Ramana Rao said that all these bus services will ply in the State itself.

Woman farmer commits suicide
A woman farmer Ramzanamma (46) committed suicide by consuming pesticide in her house in Kouthalam in the district. The woman incurred losses due to failure of cotton crop in five acres and chilly crop in two acres. Unable to bear pressure to repay the debts, she ended her life. In another incident, a tenant farmer Gaddam Prabhakar (45) who had debt of Rs.4 lakh due to withering away of his entire maize crop in four acres of leased land, died of heart attack at Bhanumukkalapadu in Pamulapadu mandal of the district.

Free services at State run hospitals from January 1, 2016
AP Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas announced a host of services free of cost to the ailing public as a New Year gift. CT Scan and other diagnostic tests would be held free of cost in all State run hospitals from January, he said after inaugurating new facilities and Satya Sai Annadana seva canteen for the benefit of patients and their attendants at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences. He said that 102 Call Centre will be inaugurated on January 1. He said that out of Rs.500 crore worth medial equipments were in the State but Rs.200 crore worth of equipments were not functioning. A notification for recruitment of 500 doctors, 1,000 nurses would be issued shortly.

Tremors trigger panic
Tremors caused tension among residents of Ponduru and Etcherla mandals. Tremors were felt for a couple of seconds at 1.53pm in Etcherla, Kushalpuram, Faridpeta and a few areas on the outskirts of Srikakulam. Tremors were felt on December 25 in the same areas. The Left party leaders have asked the State Government to withdraw its proposal of constructing a nuclear power projects in Ranasthalam which is very close to these areas. CITU leader D.Govinda Rao said that they would tour the mandal and create awareness among the people about the hazards of the proposed nuclear plant.

CREDAI property show from January 8, 2016
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) proposed to conduct a three day property show from January 8. In the property show, several housing projects which are in different stages of development besides many ready-to-occupy flats in the city will be displayed. It will be organized in Hotel Gateway. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the event while Union Minister for Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu would grace the occasion.

Temporary State Capital at Mangalagiri
The State Government plans to establish temporary State Capital at Mangalagiri. It has been decided to shift the Secretariat from Hyderabad to Amaravati by June. Efforts are being made to construct two storied buildings in a one lakh sq.ft. and run the administration from the temporary secretariat.

Medidating Buddha statue to come up at Kailasagiri
The VUDA Health Arena located at the foothills of Kailasairi will soon have a 28 ft statue of the meditating Buddha. The total cost of the statue is Rs.7.30 crore and this five year old project that comes with cycling and jogging tracks, a gym and yoga, meditation, prayer, aerobics and martial arts zone. It will be inaugurated on January 2, 2016. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the venture would be considered as another tourist attraction along with the Buddhist heritage sites like Bojjannakonda, Thotlakonda, and Bavikonda.
