Sub Inspector and wife lodges complaints on each other
The Piler police registered a case against the wife of a Sub-Inspector of Piler Circle based on his complaint that his wife and seven of her relatives had committed a theft of gold ornaments, electronic goods and some documents at his residence. Sources said that the SI and his wife were not on good terms in the recent years. The wife of the SI also met the Additional SP Annapurna Reddy in Chittoor today and lodged a complaint against her husband alleging harassment.
ACB unearths assets worth over Rs.2 crore
ACB sleuths raided the house of Guntur District Panchayat Officer Gorantla Veeraiah Chowdary today and unearthed several documents relating to the assets worth Rs.2 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income. The raids were conducted based on a series of complaints and information relating to the assets owned by the DPO. The assets included land at Thullur, three properties in Chirala, a flat near the Acharya Nagarjuna University, seven acres of land at Veerannapalem.
Konathala and Gandi Babji meet Naidu
Former minister and YSRCP leader Konathala Ramakrishna and former MLA Gandi Babji met Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu today. Sources said they would be joining the party shortly.
Sai Kumar film short-listed for Oscar
Kannada film 'Rangitaranga' was short listed for Oscar finals. The movie has Telugu actor Sai Kumar playing a key role. Rangitaranga, which was directed by Anup Bhandari, has witnessed commercial success.
YSRCP to table no confidence motion against Speaker
YSRCP has decided to table ‘no confidence motion’ against Speaker Dr.Kodela Siva Prasada Rao tomorrow. The party meeting under the chairmanship of Jagan Mohan Reddy has unanimously resolved to table the motion in the Assembly. The Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jyotsula Nehru announced of this to the media. He said that the Speaker is acting in a biased manner in the Assembly. He said that they would fight till the suspension on Roja is revoked but added that the ‘no confidence motion’ has nothing to do with ‘Roja’ suspension. Jagan will address the media at noon tomorrow, he said.
Chandranna Kanuka poster released
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today released a poster ‘ Chandranna Kanuka for Christmas and Sankranti. Under this, a bag containing of one kilo Attta, half a kilo sugar, grams, jiggery and 100 gms of ghee will be supplied to white ration card holders free of cost. This will benefit nearly 1.30 crore card holders.
BSNL offers extra time offer
On the eve of New Year, the BSNL announced extra time offer to its pre-paid mobile customers. If a customer recharges with Rs.290 will get Rs.320 talk time and Rs.390 recharge will get Rs.433 talk time, with Rs.890 recharge will get Rs.1,000 talk time, with Rs.2,000 recharge will get Rs.2,300, Rs.3,000 recharge will get Rs.3,450 and Rs.5,000 recharge will get Rs.6,000 talk time. Government to take stringent action against Malladi Vishnu
Minister for Excise Kollu Ravindra said that the government would initiate stringent action against Congress former MLA Malladi Vishnu and his family members in cases relating to the liquor tragedy that claimed five lives. He said that the government had initiated action against the officials concerned and placed circle inspector and excise superintendent under suspension. He said charge memos had been serve d on some more officials while licenses of six shops had been cancelled.
YSRCP ZP Vice-Chairperson shifts to TDP
YSRCP Prakasam Zilla Parishad vice-chairperson has quit the party to join TDP. Dr. Balaji formally joined the TDP in presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad. He was accompanied by Prakasam district TDP in-charge Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary and Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao. Balaji hails from BC community had served as the district convenor of YSRCP for three years till August 2014 and as PCC State secretary between 2007 to 2010. Dr.Balaji had helped the ruling paty MLC nominee M.Srinivasulu Reddy win from local body constituency.
Fake currency racket busted
Prakasam police busted a Fake Indian Currency Notes circulation racket with suspected links with gangs in Bangladesh. The seven members gang was produced before the media. SP Ch. Srikanth said that the gang had put into circulation of fake notes of Rs.1,000 denomination for Rs.17 lakh in Krishna, Ananatapur and Prakasam districts. He said that special team would be formed to nab the main accused Shankar form Khammam and their counterparts in Odisha and West Bengal with whom they had exchanged the noted.

An assistant Executive Engineer working in Irrigation department Giri Babu was taken into custody by ACB officials when he was demanding and accepting a bribe from a contractor Murali Mohan for passing of a bill.

CPI National Committee member K.Narayana demanded telecast of Assembly and Parliament sessions for public viewing in the back drop of the conduct of sessions. He said that the people’s representatives have turned the Assembly and Parliament session into a ‘fish market’ without any consensus on public related issues. He said that the public representatives should be accountable and everyone will know whom they have voted for, he said. On the issue of Nagari MLA R.K.Roja, he said that despite her statements in the Assembly, one year suspension should not have been avoided. Even Jagan should not encourage such MLA, he said.
President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate Veda Pathasala
Sri Venkateswara Veda Patasala established at I.Bhimavaram by TTD will be inaugurated by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee said TTD Chairman Chadalawada Krishna Murty. TTD has been conducting Veda Patasala at Chilkur, Nalgonda, Vizianagaram, Kotappakonda. The Veda Patasalas are being run with TTD funds.

Trader attempts suicide following harassment by call money lender
A call money victim attempted suicide on Monday night in Gajuwaka. A. Ramana, a private businessman took a loan of Rs.15 lakh from five private financiers residing in areas such as Anaparthi, Anakapalle, Gajuwaka and city. Police said that the victim obtained the loan at six per cent interest which the financiers later increased to 15 per cent. In statement, the victim said that he attempted suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan hook in his house as he was being harassed by the financers. He was rescued by his family members and shifted to hospital. The family members lodged a complaint with the police. As many as 34 cases were booked after the call money racket came to light said the City Police Commissioner Amit Garg.
Diploma in soft skills
Diploma in soft skills is being offered by Andhra University department of Foreign Languages. It is a six months evening course. The minimum qualification is Intermediate and the fee is Rs.4,000. Interested candidates can submit the filled-in applications for admissions at the office of the Directorate of AU.
International mega trade fair from January 1, 2016
Teams from 15 countries and several States from the Country have confirmed of their participation in the international mega trade fair being organized by the Vizagpatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in asocial with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce from January 1 to 10. Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar and other countries will set up 150 stalls while companies from various States have confirmed of their readiness to open 300 stalls. It will be held at Andhra University Engineering College grounds and the Chief Minister will inaugurate the fair.
Book Festival from January 1, 2016
The Vijayawada Book Festival Society will organize the 27th book festival at PWD grounds on Bandar Road from January 1 to 11. Speaking to press, the society president B.Babjee said writer Acharya Rachapalem Chandrasekhar Reddy would inaugurate the festival while the Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao would take part in the inaugural session.
