Srikakulam:: CPI(M) State president P.Madhu on Thursday asked the government to pay compensation to the Vamsadhara displaced as per the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. He toured several villages in Hiramandalam and interacted with the families being forced to shift to new colonies. He said the government had fixed Rs.5 lakh per acre in 2006 but could not ensure its payment. Meanwhile, police took several leaders into custody saying that they were not permitted to the project area without permission.
Vijayawada:: Candidates who secured admission in the SSC and Intermediate (AP Open School Society) courses and are eligible to appear for the public examinations scheduled from September 9 but could not pay the examination fee in time can make use of the ‘Tatkal’ scheme. In a statement, the APOSS director said candidates could avail themselves of the opportunity from August 7 to 11 by paying a sum of Rs.1,000 for Intermediate, and Rs.500 for SSC in addition to the normal fee through AP Online/Mee seva/Payment Gateway.
Nandyal:: Noted educationalist from Nandyal Imthiyaz Ahamed joined the TDP in presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today. He said he resigned as principal and joined the party as he was impressed by the constituency developmental works taken up by the government. ‘We would strive for the victory of TDP candidate in the upcoming Nandyal by-elections’, he said.
Chittoor:: The police on Thursday nabbed five suspected red sanders smuggling operatives and seized ten logs besides confiscating two motorbikes at Palasamundram mandal headquarters in the district. Police said that they were arrested when they were shifting the logs to a road point.
Vijayawada:: Former MLA Bobbili Jayaraju’s son Bobbili Vidyasagar who is accused of cheating and abducting a 25 year old doctor, his wife B.Sushma today told pressmen that the doctor’s parents were deliberately framing her husband. The doctor who was missing for the last four days is yet to be traced. Police sent teams to look out for the missing woman. Meanwhile, Sushma alleged that Surya Kumari working as a doctor at a PHC in the city has been urging her husband to marry her. Surya Kumari is the youngest sister of a Karnataka cadre IAS officer who hails from the city. It may be noted here that Sushma and Vidyasagar are married for 15 years and have two children.
Amaravati: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has decided to continue the Janmabhoomi committees by appointing new members to the existing committees. According to sources, he has given guidelines to the leaders. He reportedly said that the coordination committees have been abolished and in that place a new committee would be formed.
Amaravati:: The State government has transferred some special Grade Deputy Collectors and Deputy Collectors. Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar has issued orders of transfers and postings. Venkata Ramana Reddy working as Deputy Collector in CCLA has been posted as Joint Collector-2 to Prakasam district.
