RAJAHMAHENDRAVARAM: Godavari 5K Run to be held on April 24:: The Godavari 5K Run will be held on April 24 said MP Muralimohan. Addressing media along with Rajamahendravaram MLA Akula Satyanarayana, MLC Somu Veerraju and Mayor P.Rajani Seshasai, he said that this year they are going to conduct this run with a message ‘Green Rajamahendravaram-Clean Rajamahendravaram’.

Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad launches ‘Aavedana Deeksha’:: Former Rajya Sabha Member and former chairman of AP Hindi Academy Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad on Friday launched ‘Aavedana deeksha’ registering his protest against the State Government’s failure to implement use of Telugu language in all official communications and introduction of Telugu from kindergarten to Class 10 among others. He along with senior journalist, writer and president of C.P.Brown Mandiram Sannidhanam Sastry and social activist Pattapagalu Venkata Rao squatted at Pushkarghat around 10.30am under the hot sun. Unmindful of scorching sun, the trio continued till afternoon. Later, speaking to media, Yarlagadda said that plaques designed for laying foundation of structures in the new capital Amaravati were also in English language and said that the government is not serious about introducing the Telugu. He demanded the government release funds for Potti Sriramulu hall in Chennai.

HYDERABAD: Shaadi Mubarak fraud:: More skeletons are likely to tumble out of closet in Shaadi Mubarak fraud as ACB investigating the case has stumbled upon fresh evidence. ACB official have recently arrested Mohd.Taheruddin working as a senior assistant in Minorities Welfare Department in Ranga Reddy district for allegedly siphoning off money from the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme. An inquiry was ordered by ACB Director General AK Khan to verify the details of the beneficiaries following allegations that the scheme was being misused. The main charge against Taheruddin was that he had cleared the applications without verifying the facts. His role was crucial since he was the verification officer.

Tallest Ambedkar Statue in Hyderabad:: The Telangana Government has decided to put up a 125 ft tall statue of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, most likely on a rock in the Amusement Park at NTR Gardens here to commemorate his 125th birth anniversary on April 14, 2016. The government has constituted a committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari to finalize the location and conduct the celebrations. Hyderabad Collector Rahul Bojja would be the convenor while the members include Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Ali, Ministers Nayini Narasimha Reddy, A.Chandulal, G.Jagadish Reddy, Government Whip Koppula Eshwar, Telangana cultural wing chairman Rasamai Balakrishna, TPSC Ghanta Chakrapani, Centre for Dalit Studies coordinator M.Laxmaiah and seven others.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Divis Labs fire accident-Contractors condition critical:: The condition of three contract works who sustained at a fire accident that took place in Divis Labs at Chippada of Bheemunipatnam on Wednesday evening has turned to be critical. Initially, the company said that they sustained simple injured to the media. Doctors at the ABC Hospital where they were admitted on Thursday certified that the burns were severe. According to hospital sources, G.Bhaskara Rao sustained 84 per cent burns, P.Ganapati Rao sustained 55 per cent burns while V.Asiri Naidu 62 per cent burns. All are in the age group of 20s.

State Government withdraws GO on bauxite mining:: The Andhra Pradesh State Government on late Thursday night issued orders cancelling the Memorandum of Understanding for supplying bauxite ore mined by the State run mining agency AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). The MoUs had been signed with Jindal South West Ltd., (JSW) in 2005 and with Anrak Ltd in2008 to supply the bauxite ore mined by APMDC in the Vizag Agency tracts by the then YS Rajasekhara Reddy government. The Comptroller and Auditor General in its latest report had found fault with the MoUs which it felt were unfavorable towards State Government.

Ashok Gajapati Raju appointed as Chairman of MANSAS:: Union Minister for Civil Aviation P.Ashok Gajapati Raju was appointed as the Chairman of MANSAS following the death of P.Ananda Gajapati Raju who is the hereditary trustee of the Trust. The government has taken a decision following a letter to this effect from MANSAS board.

VIMS will be launched on April 11:: Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya will inaugurate the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences and lay foundation stone for the Employee State Insurance hospital that is being built up at a cost of Rs.500 core here on April 11, 2016 said HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

80 per cent clear MBBS:: Medicos in Telugu States performed well this year as more than 80 per cent of the students appeared for MBBS final examinations have passed in the examination. In the results released by Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas on Friday, out of 5,094 students appeared for MBBS final examination in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 4099 have cleared their examination with seven of them passed it with distinction. As many as 982 medical students achieved first class, 3,110 got second class. The passed candidates need to attend internship from April 12 he said.
