Chittoor:: Police custody for Sangeetha Chatterjee:: The First Class Magistrate Court in Pakala on Wednesday remanded Sangeetha Chatterjee, a Kolkata based model and an accused in the red sanders smuggling case to seven day police custody. She is at present under 14-day judicial custody at the sub-jail here. Chittoor Rural West Circle Inspector Adinarayana said that the Pakala police would have to bring Sangeetha back to the jail every day after completing of the interrogation process.

The kendra will be useful to employees and students from this district, she said while speaking on the occasion. She said that PF office will be opened here for the benefit of employees. Guntur:: Chandrababu allays fears of chilli farmers:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the government would come to the rescue of the chilli farmers reeling under steep fall in the price of the produce. He was responding over a memorandum submitted by AMC Chairman Mannava Subba Rao on the plight of chilli farmers. The Chief Minister said that Markfed would step in and procure chilli at remunerative price and asked the District Collector Kantilal Dande to examine the proposal.
Vijayawada:: Jagan Mohan Reddy for Delhi on Thursday:: YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy will be campaigning in New Delhi for a comprehensive legislation against defection. Sources said that he will be meeting President Pranab Mukherjee at 2pm and discuss with him the developments in the State where four MLCs who had defected to TDP were taken into the Cabinet. Former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said that there was documentary evidence to show the way the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan were violating the Anti-Defection Law.
Vijayawada:: Polavaram dam design panel reviews progress:: The Polavaram Dam Design Review Committee met for the sixth time under the chairmanship of A.B.Pandya at the office of Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Wednesday. The committee members discussed various aspects of the dam design. The long pending subject of seleting either sheet piling or jet grouting to strength the foundations was also discussed but a final decision could not be reached with Prof. Ramana saying that more studies should be made before making a decision.
