  • RAMPACHODAVARAM (EG Dist):: The Yetapaka police arrested two CPI (Maoist) leaders in the wee hours of Tuesday. Superintendent of Police S.Ravi Prakash producing them before the media said that K.Lakuma (26) alias Ravi of Guthikoya community and a native of Vissapuram village and Kaluma Raja (30) who also hails from the same village were arrested in the Jaggaram forest area while moving under suspicious circumstances. The charges included against are the murder of sarpanch Raju of Komanapalli village in 2009
  • GUNTUR: Intermediate student ends life:: Upset over his performance in Intermediate, the results of which were declared on Tuesday, a student K.Chiranjeevi committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence. In another incident, S.Raju, a student of first year attempted suicide by slashing writs and hands with a knife. He was admitted in a serious condition to a hospital in Vinukonda.
  • TIRUMALA: TDP to set up helpline number :: At a high level meeting on Tuesday, TTD Executive Officer D.Sambasiva Rao directed the vigilance officials to make available the helpline numbers on both the trekking routes. Reviewing the arrangements being made to tackle the impending summer crowd, he directed the officials of the Nitya Annadanam to reckon new menu for the benefit of teeming crowd particularly between 9am and 11 am and 9pm and 11pm. He asked the officials to maintain adequate stocks of butter milk packets for distribution among the devotees.
  • VISAKHAPATNAM: IPL matches-Pune team CEO meets Amit Garg:: Rising Pune Supergiants Chief Executive officer Raghu Iyer met Commissioner of Police Amit Garg on Tuesday and sought his cooperation for the proposed IPL matches at Dr. Y.S.Rajsekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA stadium in May. According to the Commissioner of Police, three matches are likely to be played in Visakhapatnam and the police have assured of proving all support.
  • Petroleum University – Classes form July:: The Centre is proposing to launch classes in the forthcoming academic session in Petroleum University being established here. The university will offer B.Tech and M.Tech in petroleum engineering and chemical engineering and the Centre is keen on launching classes by July. The university will have an intake of 60 students in each B.Tech stream and 18 in each of M.Tech stream.
  • Motorsports rally on April 24:: For the first time, Vizag will host the Time Speed Distance (TSD) format motorsports rally-Valley Challenge on April 24. The rally will start from Rushikonda Beach and end in Anantagiri. According to organizers, each team would be given a map called as ‘Road Book’ which contains direction and distances. Along with the book, each team will be given a speed chart. Speed chart will tell you when to drive at what speed. The city based Motor-sports event management company TT Motorsports 128 is conducting the event in association with Shriram Properties.   • VIJAYAWADA: NGO says ‘341 farmers committed suicide in the last six months in the State’ ::Rythu Swarajya Vedika, an NGO working for the welfare of farmers has come out with a list of 341 farmers who committed suicide in the State in six months from August 2015 to February 2016 for reasons ranging from huge debt, crop loss due to drought to failure of bore wells. The Vedika said that the fact finding team visited families of the 40 farmers who took the extreme step was submitted to High Court which was hearing a petition on farmer suicides in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
