  • Visakhapatnam:: Housing Corporation wins 15 awards:: Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation bagged 15 awards under various categories from the SKOCH Foundation at the awards function held in New Delhi on September 18.
  • Visakhapatnam:: SBI plans to open 40 more branches in the State:: The SBI is planning to open 40 more branches in the State in addition to the existing 1,406 branches said the Chief General Manager, SBI Amaravati Circle Mani Palvesan.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Trainee IAS officers visit Visakhapatnam Port:: Twenty two IAS officers visited Visakhapatnam Port and interacted with Deputy Chairman P.L.Haranth on Sunday. The Deputy Chairman made a presentation on the available infrastructure, cargo handling capacity, modernisation plan, covered storage facilities, solar power, investment potential and opportunities and exports.
  • Anantapur:: Ten ashram inmates held:: Ten inmates of the Swamy Prabhodananda’s ashram at Tadiparti were arrested in cases pertaining to the death of a person in the clashes that were witnessed on Sunday. Anantapur CCS DSP I.Sriniasulu said that cases had been registered against ten persons for the murder of Fakirappa alias Boya Venkataramudu. He died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
  • Kakinada:: Vital organs of brain-dead person donated:: Doctors at the Apollo Hospitals with the help of the police have sent the multiple organs of a brain-dead patient to the needy at Kolkatta and Visakhaptnam by air and on road on Sunday. The special ambulances carrying the heart and liver left the Rajamahendravaram airport and to Visakhapatnam airport and to Visakhapatnam in the evening. The heart would be carried to Kolkata by a special flight while the liver would be transplanted to a patient at the Apollo Hospitals in Visakhapatnam. Eyes of the donor were given to the local eye bank. M.Satyanarayana Raju (24) of Lakavaram village had suffered severe injuries in a road accident on September 18. He was rushed to the Government General Hospital where the doctors declared him brain dead. The family members with the remote hope shifted to Apollo Hospitals where they too confirmed the same.
  • Vizianagaram:: CPS-Employees warn of fast from October 10:: The employees covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme will launch an indefinite fast from October 10 if the State government does not respond by their demands before October 2, AP Contributory Pension Scheme Employees Association's Vizianagram district president Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced on Sunday. Taking exception to the appointment of a committee over the issue, he said the move would only to delay the decision.
