  • Visakhapatnam:: Cashless treatment for workers:: Workers in small industries covered by the ESIC can avail cashless treatment at Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, Sai Madhava Nagar at Vepagunta. Beneficiaries of the ESIC, AP have to bring a referral letter from the Medical Superintendent of the concerned ESI Hospital according to a statement issued by K.Mani Mala, Managing Trustee of the Sankar Eye Foundation.
  • Visakhapatnam:: 963 engineering works worth Rs.97 crore completed:: GVMC Commissioner N.Hari Narayan said at a meeting with officials on Saturday that as many as 963 of 983 engineering works proposed in 2016-17 in the purview of GVMC have been completed. All works being implemented from June 1, 2018 should be recorded in e-measurement book, he said. Hari Narayan directed the officials to prepare proposals for improvement and beautification of cremation grounds and water bodies at a cost of Rs.12.5 crore through AP Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Children’s theatre festival from August 10:: Navarasa Theatre Arts Association in association with the Department of Language and Culture is hosting children’s Theatre Festival from August 10. The three-day event will be held at Zilla Parishad High School, Yendada at 6.30pm. Every evening, three playlets will be presented by the participants who will arrive from Guntur, Amaravati, Kakinada and other places.
  • Vizianagaram:: Protest against CPS:: Several employees under Andhra Pradesh Contributory Pension Scheme Employees Association staged Satyagraha at Vizianagaram Collector’s office on Saturday to step up pressure on the government for the cancellation of the CPS system in the State.
  • Srikakulam:: Government spends Rs.230 crore for skill development:: JNTU – Kakinada Vice Chancellor (in charge) S.Ramakrishna Rao said the government was spending Rs.230 crore for the skill development programme and it was aimed at improving the skills of faculty members of all engineering colleges. He said that well trained professors and other staff would be able to make students meet the expectations of the industry.
  • Srikakulam:: Land acquisition for Bhavanapadu port soon:: Joint Collector K.V.N.Chakradhar Babu today said that the government would soon commence the process to acquire land for construction of the Bhavanapadu port in Santabommali mandal. He said that 2,130 acres was required and the process would be done by August 2019.
  • Vijayawada:: B.Vedavyas has been appointed as Chairman of the Machilipatnam UDA:: The Chief Minister has cleared the file relating to appointment of chairmen to various corporations/organizations. B.Vedavyas has been appointed chairman of the Machilipatnam UDA. P.Baban (Kurnool) will be the chairman of the AP Noorbasha/Doodekula Muslims Cooperative Societies Federation Ltd., and K.Govinda Reddy (Visakhapatnam) has been appointed chairman of the AP Most Backward Classes Welfare Corporation. A.V.Subba Reddy (Kurnool) has been appointed chairman of the AP Seeds Development Corporation and D.Sudhakr (West Godavari) will head the APKVIB.
  • Vijayawada:: Former Minister to join JSP:: Former Minister Mutha Gopalakrishna expressed his inclination to join the JSP during his interaction with its president Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad on Sunday. He met Pawan Kalyan to invite him for an event being organized by India Ahead, an English News channel being set up by his son Gautam, a JSP release said.
  • Vijayawada:: JSP constitutes panels:: The JSP has in a meeting in Hyderabad constituted committees and appointed regional coordinators for various districts. JSP president Pawan Kalyan has asked the Political Affairs Committee to examine the feasibility of replicating the education policy being followed in Finland in the State.
  • Tirupati:: Bhanu Prakash is BJP State secretary:: Former TTD Board Member and BJP State official spokesperson G.Bhanu Prakash Reddy has been appointed party State Secretary. The decision has been taken by the State level committee headed by party State president Kanna Lakshminarayana.
