  • Visakhapatnam:: Gold seized from air passenger from Dubai:: Customs officials at the Visakhapatnam International Airport have arrested a passenger from Dubai on charging of smuggling gold weighing 1.2 kg valued at Rs.33.74 lakh. The passenger arrived by an Air India flight on Sunday and was intercepted leading to seizure of the gold.

  • Visakhapatnam:: Carnatic singer O.S.Thyagarajan felicitated:: A Swarnakamalam was presented to Chennai based Carnatic singer O.S.Thyagarajan at the National Eminence Award ceremony organized at Kalabharati Auditorium on Monday. The Swarnakamalam was presented by Vaibhav Jewellers chairman and Managing Director Mallika Manoj Gandhi in the presence of dignitaries. Former Tamil Nadu Governor K.Rosaiah graced the function.
  • Vijayawada:: AgriGold director held and hospitalized:: The CID police apprehended AgriGold Group of Companies director Kaza Kishore. He was admitted in hospital as he complained of health problems. Soon after his discharge, he will be produced in the court according to CID press release.
  • Tirupati:: Venugopal appointed Director of RABM:: Nagasuri Venugopal, Director of All India Radio’s Tirupati station has been appointed as Director of Regional Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia, Hyderabad which has purview over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Goa. Dr.Venugopal has endeared himself to listeners through noval programmes such as ‘Chittoor Zilla Jeevana Chitram’, ‘Maa Telugu Thalliki Mallepoo Danda’ and he has authored over 60 books.
  • Kakinada:: DCC president to join Jana Sena Party:: East Godavari DCC president Pantham Nanaji on Sunday said he would be joining the JSP in the presence of its president Pawan Kalyan soon. Thanking the Congress for helping him grow as a leader, he said it was unfortunate that the party alone was being blamed for bifurcation. ‘I am not keen on being in power, but wish to be in a party that is associated with the people’, he said.
  • Vijayawada:: JSP to expedite membership drive:: JSP general secretary Thota Chandrasekhar has called upon district coordinators to strengthen the party from the booth-level and expedite the membership drive in the coming months as general elections are fast approaching. Addressing the party coordinators’ meeting on Sunday, he said the different wings of the JSP should work together to achieve the desired result.
