  • Visakhapatnam:: Six month tailoring course for fisherwomen:: Bala Vikas Foundation is offering a six month long tailoring course for fisherwomen at its Bridge School at Fishing Harbor. BVF honorary secretary Narava Prakasa Rao said on Saturday that the NGO was imparting training in sewing skills for the last five years and so far have trained 175 women batch-wise at the institution. This year, the first batch began with 30 fisherwomen from Pedajalaripeta and Paindorapeta and neighbouring areas. Trainer M.Lakshmi will introduce the participants to designing blouses, kurtas and churidhar sets. Classes will be held between 3.30pm and 5pm.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Job mela – 200 get placement:: In the job mela that was jointly organized by AP State Skill Development Corporation on the Avanthi Engineering College campus at Tagarapuvalasa, on Saturday, over 2,700 students from various colleges participated. About 20 companies participated in the mela and recruited around 200 students. The mela was inaugurated by VUDA Vice-Chairman Dr.T.Babu Rao Naidu.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Yavtarang’ underway at Vignan:: Vignan Group of Institutions Chairman Lavu Rathaiah inaugurated two-day national sports and cultural festival Vignan Yavtarang 2K17 at VIIT, Duvvada on Saturday. He launched the institution’s magazine ‘Yuva’. Students who got placements with various companies and received offer letters were later felicitated.
  • Visakhapatnam:: GITRAM invites applications for PG and UG programmes:: GITAM University Institute of Management is conducting all India level online test for admission into PG and UG management programmes for the academic year 2017-2018.   • Visakhapatnam:: Foundation stone laid for hawkers’ zone:: Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone for hawkers’ zone near RTC complex opposite VUDA City Central Park. The complex covering 10,500 square feet area comprises 52 shops. He said that VUDA would spend Rs.10 crore as part of development of his constituency. Minister for Panchayat Raj Ch.Ayyanna Patrudu promised to give another Rs.5 crore. VUDA Vice Chairman Dr.Babu Rao Naidu said that shops would come up in 5700 square feet area and would be ready by April or May.
  • Vijayawada:: Jana Sena Chief hails Chief Minister’s announcement:; Jana Sena Party president and actor Pawan Kalyan welcomed the relief measures announced by the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for patients of Chronic Kidney Disease in the Uddanam area of Srikakulam district. In Twitter, he said that the measures were the first positive steps towards eradication of Nephropathy. He said that the Chief Minister had understood the pain of the patients more than Minister from the district K. Atchnnaidu.
  • Vijayawada:: Joint Director of Employment and Training trapped:: The ACB sleuths conducted raids on the properties of Joint Director, Employment and Training, Gopuram Muni Venkata Narayana, In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday and was booked under the Disproportionate Assets case. The officials seized properties that valued at Rs.50 crore even the raids were continuing. ACB Director General R.P.Thakur said that the value of the seized assets would be around Rs. 67 crore. As many as 7 teams have conducted raids simultaneously at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati and other places said the Director General of ACB. The officials have identified four plots in Chittoor, three in Hyderabad, agriculture land in Kadapa and Chittoor districts, six flats in Kothapeta and Manikonda in Hyderabad and four shops in Ramalingeshwar Nagar, L.B.Nagar. They seized 105 promissory notes worth Rs.2.65 crore for money lent, balance balances for Rs.25 lakh, Rs.26 lakh cash, LIC policies for Rs.4.30 lakh, gold valued at Rs.32 lakh and silver at Rs.9 lakh in the house of the accused.
