  • Kurnool:: AK 47 accidently went off killing a constable on security duty::A Special party constable Boya Ampanna (25) who was drafted for the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s security died while his AK 47 rifle accidently went off killing him on the spot. He was rushed to Kurnool hospital immediately. The bullet pierced through his left side of the chest. DIG Ramana Kumar and SP Ravikrishna rushed to the hospital and paid homage.
  • Kadiri:: MLC notification will be in February:: State Election Commissioner Bhanwarlal speaking to press persons said that the notification for MLC elections will be released in February. Elections will be held in Andhra Pradesh for two Teacher and 3 Graduate constituencies and in Telangana State for one Teacher constituencies will be held in the month of March.
  • Rajamahendravaram:: Maha Mahopadyaya title to Chirravuri Srirama Sarma:: Lal Bahadur Sastry University announced that prominent Veda pandit Dr.Chirravuri Srirama Sharma will be conferred with ‘Maha Mahopadyaya’ title for his efforts in Vedic studies. The title will be conferred to him at a function to be held on January 9 in New Delhi. He received a communication to this effect on Monday. Born on October 1, 1948 in Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari ‘Sriramayana Tatwagna, Vidyaranya Vibhushana, Vachaspati, Sangaveda Bhushana, Memasaratana, Saastnidi are some of the tittles conferred on him.
  • Nellore:: Death toll in cracker blast rises to six:; The death toll in the Porlukatta cracker unit in the district has risen to six with one Chandu alias Chenchu Reddy (18) died on Monday. It may be recalled that an explosion that took place in a small cracker making unit in Porlukatta area in Nellore on Saturday. Sources said that the cracker unit was being run illegally in a poorly constructed hut was reduced to ashes under the impact of the blast. District Collector R.Mutyala Raju who visited the spot said that immediate steps were taken to provide first aid and preliminary medical help to the victims by rushing them to the DSR Government General Hospital. The deceased were identified as Yatagiri Nagaraju and Lakshmaiah both of them are the residents of the slum located nearby. Another two persons who sustained serious burns in the fireworks unit blast in the Porlukatta area on Saturday died while receiving treatment at the burns ward at a corporate hospital on Sunday. Municipal Administration Minister P.Narayana, SP Vishal Gunni and other people’s representatives and officials visited the blast site. The Minister gave away cheques for Rs.5 lakh to the family members of the deceased. Meanwhile, SP Vishal Gunni sent a report to the higher officials recommending the suspension of III Town CI G.Rama Rao and SI P.Ramakrishna holding them responsible for the incident.
  • Bheemunipatnam (Visakhapatnam)):: RI and VRA in ACB trap:: Revenue Inspector G.Srinivasa Rao and VRA Rajendra Prasad were caught red handed by the sleuths of ACB when they demanded and accepted bribe of Rs.25,000 from a complainant. According to sources, one Rajendra Prasad has 50 cents agriculture land at Chippada village in Bheemunipatnam mandal. He applied for converting the same into a residential plot and the accused demanded the amount for sending a report recommending the same.
  • Vizianagaram:: Court issues NBW to TDP MLA K.A.Naidu:; The First Class Magistrate(Special Mobile) court on Monday issued a non bailable warrant against Gajapatinagaram TDP MLA Kondapalli Appalanaidu in a cheques bounce case. According to sources, Appalanaidu took Rs.20 lakh from one Purushottam Jain in 2013 and on December 27, he issued a cheques for repayment of the amount which was returned for want of funds. The victim approached the court and the accused did not turn up resulting in the issuance of NBW.
  • Vijayawada:: Chief Minister inaugurates Book Exhibition:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today on Sunday has inaugurated the 28th Book Exhibition at Swarajya Maidan jointly organized by Vijayawada Book Festival Society, Department of Culture and NTR Trust. Speaking to media persons, he said that the book exhibition has already held in Anatapuram, Tirupati and Rajamahendravaram. He said that the exhibition will become a platform to bring awareness among the people and to change the society as Knowledge society.
  • K.Kotapadu (Visakhapatnam):: Food poisoning drives 300 to hospital:: In a wedding reception at Marrivalasa in K.Kotapadu mandal in the district, food poisoning drives 300 persons to hospital. They were rushed to various hospitals and some of those in serious condition were rushed to KGH in Visakhapatnam.
