  • Kakinada:: CBI conduct raids on the officials Kakinada Head Post office:: The CBI officials have on Wednesday and Thursday conducted raids on the residences of the employees of Kakinada Head Post Office both at office and at residences. They took Prasad, cash officer and Post Master Subhakar into custody and shifted them to Visakhapatnam for further interrogation.
  • Srikakulam:: Nuclear Power Plant-Villagers insist on written commitment:: Villagers of Kovvada, Kotapalem and surrounding areas are insisting on a written commitment from the government on the relief and rehabilitation package to enable them to make up their mind over surrendering lands for the establishment of an atomic power plant. Officials of the district administration have reportedly sought at least three months time to make an official announcement on the package as they need the permission of the higher-ups in the government and NPCIL.
  • Tirupati:: Cases against MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy dismissed: The IV Additional Junior Judge of Tirupati has dismissed the cases slapped on YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy for canvassing in violation of the rules in 2014 general elections. The judge dismissed the cases following the prosecution failed to prove the sufficient witness in the cases.
  • Tirupati:: IT conducts raids on Dr.Gunasekhar Yadav, the close associate of Minister Narayana :: The Income Tax officials have been conducting raids on the residences of Dr.Gunasekhar Yadav, a close associate of Minister for Municipal Administration Narayana. Sources said that so far the officials have found Rs.400 crore of rupees illegal assets but were yet to be confirmed by the IT department.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Land acquisition norms violated says CPI(M):: The CPI(M) State committee has claimed that the district administration of Srikakulam has initiated land acquisition proceedings for the nuclear power plant near Kovvada in the district even as the NPCIL has not completed the mandatory approvals. CPI(M) State secretariat member Ch.Narasinga Rao based on the replies he has received from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) under RTI Act said that NPCIL had not applied for sitting consent for the nuclear power plant at Kovvada. He said that the AERB had not appointed a site selection committee and the NPCIL had not yet submitted social impact assessment for appointing the site selection committee. Consent s mandatory for construction of a nuclear power plant and appointing a site selection committee was an important initial step before proceedings with land acquisition for a nuclear power plant, he said.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Discom conduct raids:: The detection and pilferage team of APEPDCL conducted raids and intensive inspection of services in Jagammpeta, Amalapuram, Mandapeta and Prathipadu of Rajamahendravaram circle and booked 203 cases. The team inspected 432 services and booked 43 cases for direct tapping, 10 for malpractice and 43 for back billing. In total, an amount of Rs.61,34 lakh was imposed as fine on the defaulters according to Chief General Manager (Operations) P.V.V.Satyanarayna.
  • Hyderabad:: BSNL offers 0.75% discount on online payments:: The BSNL has announced a discount of 0.75% on the payments made to it through online. In tune with the government’s initiative to encourage cashless transactions, the BSNL through its portal online payments can be made. Except service charge, the discount will be available for the entire bill. This is applicable for the period till March 31 for the payments made to landline, broadband, mobile postpaid bills, prepaid mobile recharges.
  • Hyderabad:: Former MP K.S.R.Murty passed away::Amalapuram former MP K.S.R.Murty (90) passed away at his residence at Gundlapochampali in Medchal mandal due to old age. Murty has three children -Srikanth, Sumedha and Sanjay with his late Wife Smt Anasuya Devi Murthy. He worked as MP for Amalapuram from 1991-96. He earlier worked as District Collector of Ranga Reddy played a key role in the formation of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajam Party. The final rites will be held on Thursday at Bansilalpeta cremation grounds.
