  • Kottapeta (East Godavari) :: Foundation stone for Polavaram project on December 30:: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minsiter Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that on December 30 at 1.50pm, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will laid the foundation stone for the Polavaram project He said that the Centre has sanctioned 2,000 crore for the project. He said that the project will be completed by 2018.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Visakha Utsava rescheduled :: Visakha Utsav, an annual carnival aimed at showcasing the tourism potential of Visakhapatnam scheduled to be held from January 7 to 9 has been rescheduled to January 28 to 30 coinciding with the CII Partnership Summit 2017. Sources said that one of the reason for the rescheduling is the preoccupation of the Chief Minister with Janmabhoomi programme and who is attending the three-day Partnership Summit will inaugurate the Utsav. Various committees would be set up by the District Collector to ensure smooth conduct of the Utsav. Roadshows were planned in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and other cities to attract tourism officials and operators from all over the country. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that it has been decided to hold Visakha Utsav regularly on fixed dates in December without breaks.
  • Visakhapatnam:: IT officer in ACB net:: The CBI caught red handed B.Srinivasa Rao, Income Tax Officer, Ward-5 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 from a complainant on Tuesday. The officer demanded the amount for dropping further proceedings n respect of capital gains. According to CBI, the complainant who gave his plot for development to a building was yet to receive his share of 12 flats. However, the accused gave a notice calling for records. For closing the matter without proceeding further, he demanded a bribe of Rs.1,50,000. When the complainant failed to arrange the money, the accused officer called him and agreed to accept in instalments. Following a complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the ITO accepting the first instalment of the bribe amount red-handed.
  • Vizianagaram:: Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy resigns as party’s district chief:: YSRCP district president Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy resigned for the post on Wednesday. A copy of the resignation letter was released to media. While thanking Jagan Reddy for appointing him as the district president in 2014, he cited personal reasons as the cause for his resignation. According to sources, Kolagatla who is also an MLC was unhappy since Botcha Satyanarayana joined the party along with his followers who had been running a parallel party office since then. It may be recalled that Bobbili MLA Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao quit the party and joined the TDP unable to accept the entry of Botcha Satyanarayana.
  • Hyderabad:: Fire accident in a pharma company:: A fire accident took place in Sanzyme pharma Ltd. situated at Gaganpahad in the week hours on Wednesday. One worker killed on the spot and another died while on the way to hospital. The fire fighting teams rushed to the spot and are trying to put the fire under control.
