  • Kurnool:: Police constable sustains injury and went into coma:: K.Neelakantappa, head constable of Gonegandla police station slipped into coma after sustaining bleeding head injuries when he fell off his two-wheeler while going to Yemmiganur in Kurnool district on Saturday. He was rushed to the SGR Hospital near Kurnool for treatment.
  • Ongole:: Rally conducted to create awareness on sexual exploitation:: Hundreds of students marched on the streets of Ongole on Saturday urging the authorities concerned to create atmosphere free from sexual exploitation. Ongole Municipal Commissioner S.Venkata Krishna expressing his solidarity promised them that he would contribute his mite to provide them a safe environment on the occasion of World Day of Fight Against Sexual Exploitation. HELP organization, as part of its Girls Advocacy Campaign conducted the rally in association with the management of the Orchids School.
  • Rajamahendravaram:: JAAP holds cycle rally:: Journalist Association of Andhra Pradesh (JAAP) conducted a cycle rally on Saturday to create awareness among the people of Rajamahendravaram on environmental issues and traffic. The rally commenced at Y-Junction went through Kambala Tank, Devi Chowk, Gokavram bus stand, three-town police station circles and finally reached Pushkara Ghat.
  • Srikakulam:: Insurance employees would launch agitation:: All India Insurance Employees Union national general secretary V.Ramesh on Saturday said that over one lakh employees would launch agitation soon if the government fails to withdraw its decision to list general insurance companies in the stock market. He feared that the people’s money should not be kept in the corporate bodies which would control the stock market too. He came here to campaign for Progressive Democratic Front candidate Aja Sarma. He said that only LIC and four general insurance companies would do their business in transparent manner.

  • Vijayawada:: BC Panel to visit East Godavari:: The Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes headed by Justice K.L.Manjunath will tour East Godavari district from March 22 to elicit the opinions of castes which sought inclusion in the BC list according to commission’s member secretary A.Krishna Mohan.
  • Hyderabad:: Chief Minister calls on Srinivas’ family:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday called on the family members of Kuchibhotla Srinivas, the Indian techie shot dead by an American in Kansas of US recently. He consoled the family members and inquired about the attack on Srinivas.
