  • Amaravati:: Chief Minister inaugurates new Asssembly building:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today on Thursday inaugurated the new Assembly building at 11.25am. The inaugural function was attended by Speaker Dr.Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Council Chairman Chakrapani and some MLAs. It may be recalled that the Assembly sessions will commence from March 6, 2017.
  • Guntur:: Invigilator dies of heart attack in examination hall:: A lady invigilator P.Hemakanti (44) who is working as lecturer in English in AC college died of heart attack while discharging duties. She sustained heart attack at around 9.30am and was immediately shifted to a nearby Saint Joseph Hospital where the doctors declared brought dead.
  • Guntur: MCI receives 20 complaints a day against doctors for writing unnecessary tests:: MCI Chairman Dr.Jayasri Mehta distributing tablets to medical students at Guntur Medical College said that the MCI is receiving 20 complaints against doctors per day for prescribing unwanted medical tests. The Tablets named ‘Vidya Pradayanai-E-Pragati’ loaded with medical lessons were distributed by the MCI chairman to the students. Speaking on the occasion, he advised the medical students to treat the patients as of their own family members and extend medical needs. Minister for Medical Education and Health Kamineni Srinivas said that the government is thinking of bringing changes in examination pattern.
  • Ongole:: Another bus accident in the State:: A travels bus carrying 75 students on board today fell down from a 40 feet height bridge at Pedalavalapadu of Pecipalli mandal of Prakasam district today on Thursday at around 3.15am. According to sources, 15 students sustained serious injuries and the condition of one of them said to be serious. The injured were rushed to Kanigiri hospital on 108 vehicles. The bus belongs to SVLT Travels and the accident reportedly took place following the driver failed to control the bus. Here, it may be recalled that Diwakar Travels bus fell into a culvert killing at least 11 passengers and many injured on February 28.
  • Hyderabad:: Some TDP leaders from Nellore joins YSRCP:: Some Telugu Desam Party leaders today joined YSRCP in presence of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Indukurupeta MPP Kailasam Renuka along with some MPTCs, former ZPTCs, former Sarpanches have joined the party. They were welcomed to the party by Jagan by offering party kanduvas. It may be recalled that Hindu Dharma Prachara Samithi State president and State BJP leader Yeleswarapu Jagan Mohan Raju along with some branch leaders have joined the party on Wednesday.
  • Tirupati:: Woman devotee drugged and robbed:: A woman devotee was reportedly robbed of her valuables in front of the main temple complex. Sources said that an elderly couple Balasubramanian and Shanta from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu reached the town on Wednesday. After darshan of the deity, the couple instead of seeking accommodation elsewhere preferred to stay back at the Vahana Mandapam. An unidentified woman, reportedly developed acquaintance with them made the elderly man believe that an herbal leafage would rid off her diabetes ad allegedly gave her a few spiked leaves to consume. On his return, her husband, who was away to bring breakfast on Thursday founder her lying unconscious and immediately rushed her to the Aswin hospital. After sometime gaining consciousness, Shanta realized that her gold ornaments mangalasutram and ear studs were missing.
  • Vijayawada:: POW ‘mahasabha’ in Visakhapatnam from April 15:: The Progressive Organization of Women will organize its 6th Mahasabha in Visakhapatnam from April 15 to 17 according to its State president R.Ganga Bhavani. A rally would be taken out on April 15 from the Visakhapatnam Railway station to the old jail complex where a meeting would be held.
  • Vijayawada:: I&PR official promoted:: Malladi Krishnanand, Joint Director has been promoted as Additional Director, Department of Information and Public Relations of the AP government on Thursday. He held several positions including that of a pro to the former Chief Minsiter N.T.Rama Rao and Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu during his earlier tenure and Press Secretary to Governor for both AP and Telangana.
  • Vijayawada:: Applications invited for Central Sports Awards:: AP Sports Authority (SAAP) in a statement on Thursday said that applications are invited for the Central Sports awards like Rashtriya Khel Puraskar, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna, Dyanchand etc., awards.
