  • New Delhi/Amaravati:: SCS is a closed chapter’, says Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu:: Union Minister for Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu said that the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh is a closed chapter. He said that the Centre is extending all benefits through special financial package. He said that the funding to Andhra Pradesh is based on the funds granted to other States basis. The expenditure on the construction of Polavaram project will be borne by the Centre itself, he said. A solution will come up for Railway Zone for the State, he added.
  • Amaravati:: Last date extended for applying for EAMCET:: The submission of appellations for EAMCET-2017 through online has been extended to March 21 according to SETs counselling special officer Dr.Raghunath said. According to notification, the last date comes to an end by Friday and the decision has been taken to give more opportunities to the students. He said that 2.52 lakh application through online has been received and 1.87 lakh out of these are for engineering, he said.
  • Amaravati:: Girls oversshine in Model School Entrance test:: Girl students outshine boys in the entrance test for admission into model schools the test that was held on March 5, the results of which were released on Thursday. A total of 38,144 candidates have applied and 35,332 students appeared for the test said RMSA Director P.Prabhakar Rao said on Thursday. As many as 55 percent girls and 52.67 boys have qualified. The results can be had on or The selected candidates certificates have been despatched to the school principals, he said.

  • Kurnool:: 25 sheep and 2 bulls perish in lightning:: Twenty five sheep at Patha Bodepadu in Gonegandla mandal and two bulls at Guvvaladoddi in Yemmiganur mandal of the district perished in lightning strikes on Thursday. Kurnool, Adoni, Yemmiganur, Gonegandla, Peddakabadur, Kosigi and Kowthalam mandals experied rainfall accompanied by thunder in the wee hours of Thursday.

  • Tirupati: Thermax plant-Bhumi puja performed:: Leading Pune based energy and environmental solutions major, Thermax global head (Cooling Business) Ashish Vaishnav performed Bhumi puja. The Rs.150 crore plant will produce chillers for large scale air-conditioning units, steam generators and boilers. The plant with an initial employment opportunity for 200 persons is expected to be commissioned by March 2018.
