  • Kurnool:: Four day chilli trade holiday from Saturday:: A four day trade holiday has been declared in Kurnool from March 11. The decision was taken as chilli traders most of whom are from other States gave a representation seeking permission to go to their home towns to celebrate Holi, said yard secretary Narayana Murty.
  • Nellore: Relief to YSRCP MLA K.Govardhan Reddy:: YSRCP MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy has approached the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail in the fake documents case filed by TDP leaders in the Nellore rural police station. The court has issued orders preventing the arrest of the MLA till a final order is given in the petition. The MLA’s bail petitions were rejected in the lower courts.
  • Srikakulam:: Lakshmipet case – court to hear witness in April:: The Special Court in Lakshmipet of Srikakulam district on Friday announced trial schedule to speed up the proceedings in the case relating to the murder of five Dalits in June 2012. The court will hear the statement of the first witness, Chithri Gangulu on April 7 and the second witness Ch.Simhalamma on April 21.
  • Vijayawada:: Trade test applications last date is March 30:: The last date for submitting applications without late fee for the all India trade test (apprentice) has been extended to March 30. The last date for submitting the applications with late fee is April 1. Candidates who have completed their training period as on April 15 are eligible to appear for the examination.

  • Vijayawada:: One killed by lightning:: One person was killed and at least two agricultural labourers were injured in Krishna district when lightning struck them as unseasonal rains battered on Friday. Paddy and Chilli crops were destroyed in hundreds of acres and life was affected as low-lying areas were flooded at many places. The deceased was identified as N.Sitarami Reddy.
