Visakhapatnam:: Attack on Jagan is an intelligence failure:: The recent attack on the life of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at high security International Airport here was the failure of intelligence says YSRCP state spokesperson John Wesley. ‘In a bid to pas the buck, Chandrababu Naidu is blaming the CISF and the Central Government as the CISF is a Central paramilitary force, he said. He pointed out the arrest of Jagan by City Police on January 26, 2017 in the same airport when he came here to take part in SCS agitation. It was the local police and now it is the CISF to be blamed. This is opportunistic politics, he alleged.
Visakhapatnam:: AU students stage dharna over poor quality of food:: The inmates of Nagarjuna Hostel of AU staged a dharna outside the Registrar’s office on Sunday alleging that they were being served food of poor quality in the mess. More than 100 students gathered outside the office shouting slogans when the VCs conference was in progress. AU Registrar K.Niranjan had to intervene to pacify the students and promised that immediate action would be taken on the issue and visited the hostel to check the quality of the food being served to students. The students said that there was no chief cook at the hostel mess and the food being served was of very bad quality. The government pays around Rs.14,000 per annum as the mess charges for each student and another Rs.14,000 is borne by the students from their scholarship amount.
Visakhapatnam:: Gynaecology meet begins:: Lectures on infertility, gynaecological cancers, maternal deaths and abortion laws were held in the inaugural of the two day 52nd annual CME organized by Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society of Visakhapatnam today. Around 400 delegates from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts are participating.
Machilipatnam:: ‘Pelli Kanuka’ for Kapu couples likely:: Minister for Law K.Ravindra today announced that the State government was preparing to offer ‘Pelli Kanuka’ to the Kapu couples through the corporation meant for their welfare. After an interaction with the women of the community at Sukarlabad here, he distributed sewing machines to 60 beneficiaries who had been trained by the corporation in the avocation. In another programme, he distributed rickshaws sanctioned by the SC Corporation to 30 beneficiaries.
Srikakulam:: Chandrababu to distribute cheques to Titli hit victims on October 31:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will address a public meeting at Palasa in the district on October 31 and distribute cheques to the victims of Titli cyclone, according to District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy.
