  • Vizianagaram bags national award:: District Collector M.Hari Jawaharlal received a national award from NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajeev Kumar for effective implementation of the ‘POSHAN Abhiyan’ scheme at a function in New Delhi on Wednesday. The scheme is aimed at providing nutritious food to children, adolescents and women. Of the 117 districts that competed, Vizianagaram stood first.
  • Vijayawada:: Panel to monitor e-Prisons project:: The State government constituted a committee to monitor the implementation of the e-Prisons project. It will have the DG/IG of Prisons and correctional services as Chairman. It will have representatives from the Home, Finance and IT departments, nodal officers of the prison management system and crime and criminal tracking network system.
  • Vijayawada:: Chandrababu mortgaged TDP to Congress:: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana alleged that the Chief Minister Chandrababu had mortgaged the TDP to the Congress in Telangana notwithstanding the fact that NTR had founded the party to fight against the Congress. In a letter to Chandrababu, he referred to the allegation of Telangana Chief Minsiter KCR that Chandrababu was providing financial support to Congress besides providing it a helicopter for electioneering in the State.
  • Anantapur:: Entire district declared drought hit:: The State government has declared entire Anantapur district drought-affected for the kharif season of the 2018 South-west monsoon.
  • Vijayawada:: Chandrababu cautions officials on ‘Titli’:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had instructed officials of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts to be prepared for any eventuality as cycle ‘Titli’ is expected to cross the coast on October 11. He ordered that the NDRF be kept ready.
