HYDERABAD: B.Rammohan took charge as Mayor of GHMC:: Cherlapally corporators B.Rammohan took charge as the city’s mayor at 12.45pm today. 4000 special buses for Medaram Jatara:: TSRTC will run 4000 special buses from various parts of the State to Medaram for the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara to be held from February 14 to 21. Telangana State Transport Minister P.Mahender Reddy along with TSRTC Joint MD G.V.Ramana Rao inaugurated 36 ticket counters at Medaram.
Restore old-age pension ‘, says High Court:: Justice C.V.Nagarjuna Reddy of Hyderabad High Court on Friday said that the old-age pension shall be restored to eligible people and arrears paid by May 1. The judge was passing these interim orders while dealing with a batch of writ petitions filed by several people filed by several people from Srikakulam district. The petitioners contended that the old age pensions was stopped after the new government took over and it was claimed by the authorities that they were dead. The judge called for records and came heavily down the officials. He said that this is not charity. The pension shall be resorted and arrears be cleared by May 1.
TIRUMALA: TTD to close shrine for eclipse:: The Tirumala shrine will remain closed for 12 hours in view of the solar eclipse on March 9 between 5.47am and 9.08am The temple will closed from 8.30pm on Mach 8 Tuesday and opened the next day at 10am. Purification rituals such as Samprokshana and Punyahavachanam will be performed before opening the shrine for the public. The TTD has cancelled Sahasra Kalasabhisheka Seva but daily Sevas such as Suprabhata Seva, Tomala and Archana will be conducted in Ekantam.
VISAKHAPATNAM: GITAM B.Tech girl student commit suicide:: One Shreya Prasad, a second year B.Tech student studying in GITRAM university committed suicide by hanging himself in the hostel room on Friday. She was a native of Hyderabad and police said that the reasons for the extreme act was not known. The investigator’s found a letter with the words ‘ I miss you Darling from tomorrow’ which they said hints at a love affair.
VIJAYAWADA: NGO opposes Ramgopal Varma’s plan a movie on Vangaveeti:: The people of the city have been living in harmony for decades but the proposal by the film director Ramagopal Varma to make a film with tittle’ Vangaveeti’ is evoking fear in the hearts of the locals. Gandhi Global Family State convenor Naraharisetti Srihari in a letter to the Vijayawada Police Commissioner said that the people of the city were worried that the new film may bring back the bad memories of days that followed the assassination of the then MLA Vangaveeti Ranga. He said that people of the two rival groups were currently living in harmony but they are afraid that the old hatred may surface again, he said. He also appealed Varma to reconsider his decision.
