The IX Additional Sessions court here today on Monday acquitted all the 13 accused in a 2007 case of attempt to murder on the former Chittoor MLA C.K.Jayachanra Reddy alias C.K.Babu.

It may be recalled that on February 9, 2007 a gang carrying lethal weapons barged into a club beside the Palamaner Road in the town allegedly to kill Babu. After gunning down his gunman, the gang members entered a room in the club where Babu and his followers were having breakfast. When the gunman opened fire, another gunman of the former MLA returned the fire killing one of the assailants. However, Babu escaped unhurt in the incident. The shoot out resulted in the death of a municipal official who was reportedly there to meet Babu. Another attacker identified as Raja was injured in the leg.

The police registered criminal cases against Katari Mohan, his nephew Chandrasekhar and 13 others including Katari Praveen. As the prosecution did not succeed in proving charges against the accused, the court on Monday acquitted them of the charges.
