The All India Brahmin Federation has demanded the government to provide 19 per cent reservation to the Economically Backward Classes in the general category.
Addressing a press conference, the AIBF chief advisor Kota Sankara Sharma said that the S.R.Sinha Commission’s recommendations such as special health insurance package for the EBCs in the general category had been put on hold. He said that the States with reservations of more than 50 per cent cap were able to get constitutional amendments to all the additional percent of reservations.
Sankara Sharma said that the national Executive Council of the AIBF would meet here on May 22 to discuss welfare and reservations to the EBCs and the suppression of the S.R.Sinha Commission Report which recommended a separate division in the Ministry of Social Justice and Employment to focus on the welfare of the EBCs. He said that the federation above caste, creed and religion was going to work for the welfare and reservations to the EBCs in general category.
