Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Students Association stood in hip-deep water at the Durga Bathing Ghat today demanding that the GO.No.64 that permitted graduates from agricultural colleges not having ICAR recognition to get jobs in the Agriculture Department.

This has come following the GO that was issued earlier was cancelled. The graduates opposed it and they were doing ‘Jala Deeksha’ asking Goddess Kanakadurga to prevail on the State government to restore the GO.

It may be recalled that the Hyderabad High Court passed an interim order suspending GO 64 last month. When the students approached opposing the GO, Jana Sena chief Pawan made a public statement demanding that the GO be scrapped and he would support the agitation of the students. The agitating students said that the ICAR was an institute that was concerned with research work and not education standards.

Students said that there were over 30,000 Telugus studying in good agricultural colleges that were not recognized by the ICAR. All of them would lose eligibility to apply for the government jobs. They came down heavily on Pawan Kalyan stating that he should not have extended support to the students who approached him without making a thorough study and demanded that he withdraw his statement.
