Agitating Junior Doctors calls of strike following demands accepted

Demanding the immediate arrest of Prof. Lakshmi for her alleged role in the suicide of post graduate student Dr. Sandhya Rani and the suicide attempt by the deceased husband.

The Junior Doctors have on Monday night announced of their decision calling off the strike following the assurance given to them by the police to arrest Prof. Lakshmi.

Arogya Sri CEO Ravi Sankar Ayyanar arrived here from Hyderabad to hold discussions with the striking junior doctors who initially refused but later agreed with the suggestions of the GGH Superintend and Medical College Principal. The Minister for Health and Medical Education Kamineni Srinivas spoke to Ayyanar over phone.

The demands put forth by the striking doctors are that

  • Prof. Lakshmi should be banned from teaching in any medical college.
  • Creating of a special cell at Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences
  • Justice to be done to the family of deceased Dr.Sandhya Rani.

All these demands were accepted paving way for the striking doctors to attend for duties.

Meanwhile, the bail petition filed by Prof. Lakshmi comes up before Guntur court on November 3. As many as six teams were on the hunt to nab Prof.Lakshmi and they have intensified their searches for the arrest of Prof. Lakshmi.
