Actress Charmee moves to High Court in drugs case

Tollywood actress Charmee Kaur approached the Hyderabad High Court seeking certain measures when she would be interrogated by the SIT in drug racket that was unearthed recently.

Charmee contended tht some rumors have been spread against her and TV channels were telecasting sensational news for the TRP ratings. She said that she had received the notice from the officers of the SIT and requested the court to give a direction to the investigating officers to permit the presence of her advocate when she is being questioned. She also sought presence of a women police officer.

She requested the court to direct the officers concerned not to extract any statement forcibly from her. She said that the authorities should not be permitted to take samples of blood, hair or nail from her without her consent. She cited some judgements of the Supreme Court in this regard.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Director of Prohibition and Excise Akun Sabarwal made it clear that it will not take thing lying down. He responded to his detractors by saying a defamation case might be on the cards. He said that the SIT investigating the case under the laws of the land and added that blood, hair or nail samples are being taken only with the consent and not forcibly. He added that it is not right to target one person, team or a whole department and it is nothing but defamation. Accusing officers of not doing their duties property is also defamation, he said.
