A committee headed by Rural Development Principal Secretary officer KS Jawahar Reddy has recommended the State Government to establish the Secretariat at Medha Towers in Vijayawada.
The committee suggested that all departments of the secretariat should be housed at one place for smooth administration. ‘The Medha Towers has 1.75 lakh sq.yards and if it is not sufficient can construct a temporary shed in 30 acre land near by government’, suggested Jawahar Reddy Committee. The committee said that searching for suitable place for police personnel training has become a problem.
The committee estimated an expenditure of Rs.100 crore for make necessary modifications for the offices to be houses. The rent to be paid would around Rs.50 crore. The State Government has already identified Rain Tree apartments for ministers, MLAs, AIS officers but added that the employees have to search their own accommodation.
