APSRTC to enter into courier and parcel service business

The APSRTC according to sources will enter into the courier and parcel service business from September in a full fledged manner. The contract with ANL Parcel service with APSRTC will end in August.

Chief Traffic Manager (Commercial and Projects) Gopinath Reddy said that they are making arrangements for running courier and parcel services fully on its own after the expiry of the contract with ANL parcel service. It will give franchises at different points in all cities, towns and villages to collect and deliver the goods, he said. RTC is having a fleet of 12,000 buses linking every nook and corner and 1,300 ATBs and it has decided to appoint business facilitator across the State to operate courier and parcel service. RTC according to sources has identified 600 villages for appointing franchises to book parcel an a software has been developed to track the movement of the goods.

The tariff for parcels:

  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 50 km – Rs.30
  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 51-100 km – Rs.35
  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 101-150 km – Rs.40
  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 151-200km- Rs.55
  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 201-300 km – Rs. 65
  • Up to 25 kgs and up to 301 and above – Rs.80

For couriers::

  • Up to 500 gms Rs.30 up to 200 km
  • Up to 500 gms Rs. 35 more than 200 kms
