Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will be shifting its office to here and will work in full-fledged manner from May 15, 2016.
The APSRTC Managing Director and Vice-Chairman N.Sambasiva Rao speaking to press said that ‘the APSRTC will move lock, stock and barrel by May 15 for effective functioning of the corporation. He said that a slew of initiatives by the corporation to enhance its commercial revenue through 24 different streams like license fee on canteens, cycle stands, DOT stalls, advertisement on business, parcel services and leasing of sites fetched a sum of Rs.79.43 crore till January this year. It expects a revenue of Rs.100 crore this financial year, he said.
On non-traffic revenue, the Managing Director said that APSRTC would opt for licensing of space for 100 medical shops, 100 diagnostic centres, 100 mini-theaters, 100 retail shops and dental clinics and eye care centres in bus stations. He said that free travel facility in ordinary city ad metro services to long-distance commuters within two hours of either boarding or alighting a long-distance service, a 20 per cent concession for last seat travellers in the last two rows in deluxe, super luxury, Indra, Garuda, Garuda Plus and Amaravati long distance buses. He also said that Advance Bus Arrival System ring tone alert has been introduced. This will provide advance information to the waiting passengers across 40 routes covering 453 buses and an automatic ring tone alert is triggered by a missed call from the bus conductor to the fixed terminal installed the bus stop.
