APSRTC introduces ‘Flexi fare’ for special services for Sankranti

  • Additional fare will be around 50 to 70 per cent
  • Targets to collect Rs.20 crore
  • Private operators hikes 200 to 300 per cent

The most important festival for Telugu people is ‘Sankranti’ and the APSRTC has prepared to introduced ‘Flexi fare’ for the special services it introduces for the festive season.

RTC is preparing to charge extra 50 to 70 per cent in the name of flexi fare while the private travels are charging ranging between 200 to 300 per cent. It may be noted here that the APSRTC will be plying over 2,500 special buses to meet the demand of the passengers for the festive season from various parts of the State. It also made available the Online Passenger Reservation System.

Here, it may be mentioned that the Minister for Transport Sidda Raghava Rao on December 30, 2016 has announced that there will not be any burden on the passengers by hiking special fare to the passengers and orders will be issued to the management. But APSRTC maintains that the government has issued a GO earlier paving way to charge 50 per cent hike in festive seasons. Sources said that the RTC had been collecting the additional fare for the last two years.
