The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced the revised power tariffs while sparing domestic consumers from tariff hike on Thursday.
APEPDCL officials said that the revised tariff would generate an additional Rs.42 crore to the DISCOMs. Projecting a revenue deficit of about Rs.5,100 crore, the DISCOMs of the State readied proposals for tariff hikes to the tune of Rs.783 crore as well as re-grouping of the consumers after envisaging the government subsidy. But it has limited the tariff hikes to Rs.216 crore of the two DISCOMs. Rs.42 crore for the APEPDCL.
Discoms proposed energy charges hike of 4 per cent, the APERC has permitted the charge hike up to 2 per cent. The power usage of limit of Group A category has been extended to 900 units per year form the earlier proposed 600 units.
