Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Agriculture and Planning G.Babu Rao was named as the A-4 in the suicide of Mondi Rishiteswari, a B.Arch. student. However, no arrest was made but the police officials said that he would be arrested soon.

The Guntur police have filed the charge sheet in the instant case. They have slapped charges against three students Dumpa Hanish, Dharavath Jaicharan and Narala Srinivas. The accused have been charged under Sec. 306 of IPC and Section 4 of Prevention of Ragging Act for allegedly abetting the suicide.

It may be recalled that Rishiteswari has committed suicide on July 14, 2015 and the accused were arrested on August 16, two days after the body of Rishiteswari was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room on the campus premises. The girl’s father Murali Krishna has demanded immediate arrest of the principal. Senior counsel Y.Koteswara Rao demanded that the charges under the POSCO Act be registered against the accused since the victim was a minor.

The retired IAS officer Balasubramanyam Committee faulted the functioning of Babu Rao as Principal of College of Architecture. The Committee recommended the government to probe into the functioning of the principal that led to pollute the atmosphere in the university campus.
