ACB nabs Sri Krishnadevaraya University Assistant Registrar

ACB officials today trapped G.Venkataswami, Assistant Registrar of Sri Krishnadevaraya University for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a college management.

According to ACB DSP Meka Sudhakar, there is a distance education study centre of the SK University in MSR Degree college, Munagapaka near Anakapalle and about 300 students wrote examinations in January this year. The students found that practical marks were not reflected in their statements which was issued by the university. Immediately, they approached the management of the college about this and in turn they brought the issue to the notice of Venkataswami who demanded Rs.1 lakh bribe from the management on behalf of the students.

The accused Assistant Registrar has asked the management to meet him at a hotel in the city and before meeting him to hand over the first instalment of Rs.50,000, the management and students informed the ACB officials. They caught him red-handed while he was accepting the bribe. The accused official would be produced in the ACB court, Vijayawada on Sunday.
