Friday, December 29, 2017

YSRCP has termed the year 2017 as the “year of land grabbing” by politically influential sections.

Speaking to media here today, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said that this year qualified to be called thus because the ruling TDP had resorted to acquisition of vast extent of land. Not only did the government grab lands from the poor farmers and land owners but also ensured its continuation by coming up with the ‘land pooling’ scheme and amending the Land Acquisition Act of 2013, he said. Over one lakh acres of land for which the poor and middle class people paid by parting with their hard earned money was grabbed by influential people.

The involvement of a Minister had also come to light but it was hushed up, he said. RK said that the land pooling scheme the government used to take away 33,000 acres from farmers ad other land owners was illegal. The farmers had signed Form 9.18 handing over the land to the government but the latter failed to keep its word on handing over plots.
