YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today said that the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was unnecessarily creating confusion on the Polavaram project issue in a bid to cover-up his governments’ handling the issue.

During his 23rd day of Praja Sankalpa Yatra addressing a public meeting at the Ooruvakilli centre of Pattikonda mandal headquarters in Kurnool, he said that Chandrababu’s statements that the Centre was creating hurdles in calling for and finalizing the tenders were aimed at confusing the people whereas the ground reality is otherwise.

He said that the State government had issued a notification for global tenders on November 16 but the documents were not uploaded until after six days. While the minimum time to be given for global tender is 45 days, the government had given only 15 days for contractors to file bids. That is what the Centre has said in its letter, he said.

The project is a lifeline for AP and Telangana::

Lok Satta founder N.Jayaprakash Narayan has urged the State and the Union governments to eschew their differences and expedite the completion of the project. Speaking to media in Guntur before launching the Surajya Yatra, he said it was essential to complete the project by 2019 as it would meet the requirements of both Telugu speaking States.

‘It will take five years time’, says Rayapati::

Narasaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said that he too wanted the project to be completed in the best interests of the State. He said that the project would take at least five years as there could not be any compromise on the quality of engineering works. He who has stakes in the Russian based Transstroy said that the company was awarded the project in June 2016. The firm is now equipped with modern machinery and is taking up the works. ‘We request the State government to give more time and support us to complete the project’, he said.

BJP MLC Somu Veerraju faults Chandrababu’s remarks::

BJP MLC Somu Veerraju today faulted the remarks of Chandrababu Naidu for his allegations on the Centre that adequate funds were not being released for completing the project on time. He said that Chandrababu can discuss the issue with the Central Ministers and find an amicable solution to the funds problem. It is not good on his part to pass remarks on the Central government which is keen on completing the major irrigation project, he said at a press conference here in Kakinada.
