‘Stern action against red sanders smugglers’, says Sidda Raghava Rao

AP Minister for Environment and Forests Sidda Raghava Rao on Thursday warned smugglers and those officials of the Forest department and task force who colluded with them with stern action.

Speaking to media, he said that the government would not hesitate to clamp down on any official, he said and added that the sale of early 8,500 metric tonnes of logs was awaiting clearance by the authorities concerned. He said that in the last year, the government could get Rs.991 crore by way sale of 3,615 metric tonnes of red sanders. In the first phase, tenders for2,025 metric tonnes will be called’, he said.

Vijayawada:: Coastal surveillance being strengthened:: Customs Commissioner S.K.Rahman on Thursday said that the department’s surveillance network was being strengthened with the help of advanced technologies. He was addressing a seminar on ‘Vigilance in coastal areas by the Customs Department’, organized by Customs Preventive Commissionerate and Maritime Gateway magazine.
