Friday, June 30, 2017

In a bid to make ‘100 per cent mosquito free’ Andhra Pradesh, the departments of Health and Family Welfare and Panchayat Raj have decided to seek Cabinet clearance for the draft Mosquito Breeding (Control) Bill at its meeting on July 3.

The objective is to take forward the war that the government has declared against deadly disease caused by mosquitoes such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya and swine flu. The legislation will penalize those responsible for breeding of mosquitoes in both rural and urban areas.

Speaking to media, the Panchayat Raj Minister Nara Lokesh and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said that an action plan had already been prepared and it was contemplated to constitute a three-member appellate authority that would oversee the implementation of the law. Special Commissioner for Health and Family Welfare Sujatha Sharma, Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) R.Karikal Valaven and Commissioner (PR) B.Ramanjaneyulu were present.
