Chief Ministers son in law, Anil Kumar surrenders before SP

Booked for violation of Election model code of conduct

Evangelist and son in law of Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Anil Kumar has surrendered before the Superintendent of Police Mahesh M Bhagwat. He was booked for violation of model code of conduct of Elections in Khammam and later was released on bail against a personal bond executed at the Khammam police station. A criminal case was booked under Sec.171 and 188 of IPC for making an appeal at a religious meeting on the premises of a church in the outskirts of Khammam on March 24.

Brochures pertaining to the government sponsored welfare and development schemes were also distributed without acknowledging the name of the printer. Some of those who had participated in the meeting alleged paid bus fare.

The three other persons who were also involved in the episode were also arrested. The Opposition parties raised a concern that no immediate action was taken against Anil Kumar. The District Collector V Usha Rani has assured them of action as per law after duly investigating the case.
