TRS retaliate after its activist gets hurt in an accident involving MP car
Nizamabad, September 25, 2008Irate activists of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) attacked the glass facade of the corporate office of LANCO that was promoted by Member of Parliament (MP) from the Congress Party, L Rajagopal at Jubilee Hills on Thursday evening. The attack was in reiteration to the injury caused in an accident involving the MP's car in Nizamabad town a few hours earlier. MP Rajagopal has been targeted by the TRS on earlier occasions as he was opposing the demand for a separate Telangana state.
A number of activists suddenly descended on the Lanco, an infrastructure development company from their party office nearby and pelted stones on the three storied premises covered with glass catching the employees working inside unawareness. Windshields of five cars parked outside the office were also broken. The City Police Commissioner, B Prasada Rao rushed to the spot but the TRS activists fled the scene by then.
MP L Rajagopal is on a visit to the town to participate in a function connected with the 60th birthday celebrations of APCC President D Srinivas. A TRS workers was injured a few hours earlier when he was hit by one of the vehicles of the convoy of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukharjee. He is the chief guest at the function. The TRS cadre tried to block the motorcade of Mukharjee and were protesting against inaction of a sub committee of the UPA Government led by him to look into the issue of separate Telangana. As the policemen were trying to clear the protesters, one of the vehicles in the convey hit the TRS worker while trying to steer past him. He was shifted to a private hospital.
