About 1.53 lakh IT jobs to come up in four years time

Kurnool, September 21, 2008

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation for an Information Technology Park being set up by the Raaga Mayuri Group of builders on Sunday. The IT park is coming up on a 32.9 acres area near Tadakanapalli on the outskirts of Kurnool at a cost Rs.250 crores. The IT Park secured all permissions for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status from the Central Government and the State Government.

Speaking at the meeting after laying foundation stone, the Chief Minister said that the government created congenial atmosphere in the State for the fast growth of IT sector. The IT exports from the State accounted for Rs.26,000 crore while the share of AP in IT exports rose to fifteen percent from eight percent in the past.

The Chief Minister said in spite of the hype created by the TDP government only 89,000 jobs could be created during its nine year rule, the government comparatively 1.53 lakh IT jobs were generated during the last four years. He said that the government earmarked Rs.426 crore for imparting job oriented training to fresh graduates in the State through Jawahar Knowledge Centres and centres for teaching communication and soft skills.
